Not sure I can do it justice…..but let’s try. Accommodation is luxurious yet homely. Staff are just brilliant. Friendly, great service ethos and not in your face. Food is excellent. If you like small genuine boutique hotels where you feel you are wasting your time by trips out….you will like this one.

We have been coming to SA for the past 30 years and this is without a doubt the best hotel we’ve ever stayed. We came with my two young kids (and the grandparents), and it was truly a home away from home. The food is sublime, the facilities PERFECT for young kids and adults alike (small pool, tonnes of space to run, playground, tennis, the lake, kayaks etc), the rooms are the most spacious and beautiful I’ve come across, and the staff are gorgeous and warm and wonderful. What’s more, the kids video monitors would stretch from our bedroom, so we could put the kids to bed and have a delicious 3 course meal in peace overlooking the mountains or the water. We had the best time and I really couldn’t recommend The Thatched House enough. We will be back every single year forever more!

This was our second visit to the Thatch House in Hermanus.- simply a Masterclass in Coastal Luxury: This is no ordinary getaway. Nestled between the dramatic Cape Fold Mountains and the serene Hermanus Lagoon, the setting is nothing short of spectacular. It offers a sense of privacy and peace that is hard to find, even in the beautiful Overberg region. The true magic lies inside. The interiors are a triumph of exquisite taste. Every room feels curated rather than just "decorated"—with double-volume spaces, bespoke furniture, and a sophisticated mix of contemporary comfort and eclectic art. It’s rare to find a place that feels so high-end yet remains so warm and inviting. What truly sets this boutique hotel apart, however, is the friendly, smiley staff. The service is impeccable—attentive and professional without ever feeling stiff. Whether it’s the team greeting you by name or the effortless way they handle every request, the hospitality here adds a layer of genuine heart to the luxury experience.

We were blown away by the place. The quality of accomodation, the food but most importantly the staff who were discrete, courteous, professional and fun made it very special for us and our grandchildren

What an amazing place! The spacious room, the eating and relaxing area, the view, everything is so beautiful. And than the good food and friendly and helpfull staff. We couldn’t think of a better place to start our holiday.

From the moment we arrived at The Thatch House in Hermanus, we were greeted with warmth and exceptional care. Every member of the staff went above and beyond, ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. The attention to detail throughout the property is impeccable, creating an atmosphere of pure peace and relaxation. Each day felt like the most relaxing holiday, made even more special by the outstanding food that delighted every sense. Truly a remarkable experience- we can’t wait to return!

The most beautiful thatched boutique hotel set in a very peaceful and stunning location overlooking the lagoon. Heaven!! It is about 5kms outside Hermarnous so not far and taxis available if needed. Our room, The Waterfall Suite was beyond beautiful. Honestly, have never stayed in such a beautifully decorated and clean room overlooking the stunning lagoon. The bedding is wonderful, the bed huge and very comfy. The balcony area was amazing and even had a personal sauna. The pool area is again very beautiful and peaceful set in fabulous gardens. The dining/lounge/bar area is also sublime. The food was very nice. A big thank you to Kim and all the wonderful staff who without exception were warm, friendly and wonderful. They couldn't do enough for you. Thank you. I am so sorry but i have forgotten the name of the lovely lady that looked after us most days. So sorry!! We stayed three nights and was very very sad to leave. If you want an amazing and memorable experience I would urge you to stay here. We have no hesitation in recommending The Thatch House and will most definitely return. Thank you again to everyone.
