Great location near the MTR with plenty of shops nearby, but the actual room experience was poor. The room was cramped, difficult to move around in, and felt dirty throughout my stay. I wouldn't stay here again.

The air conditioning in the room was a bit too cold at night, and I couldn't figure out how to adjust it. I was practically freezing! 😳 Luckily, I could scan a QR code to access their system and request an extra blanket from the auntie. She even helped us adjust the AC, which I'm super grateful for! 🙏🥹 This hotel is conveniently located near McDonald's, Wellcome Supermarket, 7-Eleven, a fruit store, and a pharmacy, all of which offer great value. There are also a few delicious noodle shops and 'bing sutt' (local diners) nearby. I basically choose this hotel every time I visit Hong Kong.

I chose the iclub Ma Tau Wai Hotel in To Kwa Wan, recommended by a friend, because I was going to a concert at Kai Tak. For over 800 a night, it felt like staying in a budget motel in mainland China. The room was moldy; there was a strong musty smell as soon as I walked in. At first, I thought maybe the room was just stuffy and airing it out with the AC on while I was out would fix it. But when I came back to the hotel at night, the strong moldy smell was still there. I reported it to the hotel, and they immediately agreed to change my room. However, the new room also had a very strong moldy smell. The security guard who showed me the room and the front desk staff both had outrageous explanations. One said, 'That's just how hotels are in Hong Kong; we had a black rainstorm two days ago, so moldy rooms are normal.' The other told me, 'You're just not used to this smell; you'll get used to it.' I was completely shocked! Do guests have to adapt to your moldy rooms when staying at this hotel? So, you only address the guest's discomfort, not the hotel's own hardware facilities and maintenance issues? Their way of solving the problem is just to change rooms – if you're not satisfied, they'll keep changing until both the guest and staff are exhausted, but the core problem itself isn't properly resolved. Including both the original room and the replacement room, I ended up cleaning the AC, bedding, and walls in two rooms. I felt like I paid to be a domestic helper. Everyone, remember to avoid this hotel during the rainy season and peak season. Here are some actual photos of the hotel room, including mold on the soft-padded headboard wall, large areas of mold on the curtains, and dust in the AC vents, for your reference.

I was surprised how convenient To Kwa Wan is! I booked this hotel for a concert, and both Kai Tak and the Coliseum are just a few stops away on the Tuen Ma Line. Getting here from the airport was super easy too, with the A22 bus going straight to the hotel. The room was small but clean, and for one person, it was more than enough space. At just 350 on a weekday, and with free simple breakfast like bread, coffee, and juice in the morning, I think this place offers unbeatable value for money in Hong Kong.

I had to queue for a bit even though I arrived at the 2 PM check-in time. The elevators are a real pain; living on the 18th floor meant constant stops going up and down. The room was super small; with two single beds, there was hardly any space left. I needed a power converter. The hotel is very easy to find, just a quick left turn from Exit D of To Kwa Wan station. It's about a 30-minute walk to Kai Tak. The room was so dismal that I didn't even bother taking pictures. The nearby cha chaan teng and McDonald's are very convenient.

This is the worst hotel I've ever booked! It's run-down, no different from a budget chain hotel in mainland China. I can't believe this was 1000 RMB a night, and it's supposedly a 4-star hotel? How did it even get that rating? The room had a weird smell, it was tiny and dilapidated, and the water pressure was terrible! Are all the reviews on Xiaohongshu fake?

The room was advertised with a 'selected breakfast' but there was no mention of it, nor was it offered during check-in. The room itself was tiny, I couldn't even open my suitcase. The mirror faced the bed, it was damp, and the floor tiles were very slippery. Clothes I hung to dry overnight were still wet in the morning. The air conditioning couldn't adjust the fan speed or temperature, making it too cold. The mattress was uncomfortable, and the pillows smelled like unwashed feet. I had to store my luggage myself, and there was no one supervising it. The hotel is surrounded by an elderly community, nursing homes, and a wet market – there's absolutely nothing else nearby. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're attending a concert. For 900, the quality is on par with, or even worse than, a 100-yuan hotel on the mainland. Given that the subway runs until late, it's definitely better to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui. This price is just ridiculous.

The room was great. It had all the amenities, was clean and comfortable, and the environment was quiet. The service was excellent, and the location was convenient, close to the subway station for easy travel. The price was also very reasonable.
