The Standardx, Melbourne

surprisingly peaceful stay in the heart of fitzroy! beautiful design-led spaces with a well curated gift shop. they also have juice and batch brew 24/7 at the lobby which is really thoughtful. everyone i’ve met on duty has been so sweet and helpful! only feedback is that the housekeeping team was not meticulous with the cleaning but i guess it would’ve been rectified if i flagged it but i think was too tired to do so :’)

Love the hotel’s trendy design, comfortable bed and great location. The room cleaning could be improved, though. Twice, the cleaning staff knocked quite urgently to ask if we needed the room cleaned, which felt unnecessary and disruptive. On one occasion, the pillow was left on the bedside table and a visibly dirty floor towel was not replaced. Overall, a lovely stay, but housekeeping could be more attentive.

From the moment you walk through that iconic red revolving door, The StandardX sets the tone for a stay that’s anything but standard. The reception team were genuinely warm and welcoming — the kind of friendly that feels real, not rehearsed. The rooms deliver exactly what you see in the photos: compact but thoughtfully designed, with local artwork, plush beds, and clever touches that make the space feel special. No nasty surprises on arrival. Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of Fitzroy — one of Melbourne’s most creative and walkable neighbourhoods. And that’s where the food scene really shines. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the area is absolutely packed with options to suit every mood and craving. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a boutique stay with real personality — and an excuse to eat their way through Fitzroy.

The hotel was beautifully designed and the location was great

Great location if you like to be at the cultural heart of melbourne. near local markets, many great cafes and wjne bars and walking distance from 2 tram stops. amenities, service and bedding with all excellent. however, room was very small and bathroom had no privacy.

If you like fun that's not repetitive. The Standardx Hotel in Melbourne has an amazing design, good breakfast. The barista makes coffee that tastes even better than in a coffee shop. The Fitzroy market, which is open every Saturday and Sunday, is located directly across from the hotel.
