Volcano Village Lodge

Pros: cute welcome cerimony, so close to volcano park, flashlights provided, nice fireplace to heat the room, cute rocking chairs perfect for morning coffee. Cons: stains on the quit they had on our bed, property is small with close by neighbors (one is a dog), our room was attached to the office so we had to keep our blinds closed because people could see right in. Shower curtain rod actually fell on my husband's head during his shower. Room had a dehumidifier which filled during the night then woke us up to a loud alarm before turning off. Our smoke detector was missing. And the light over the bathroom sink flickered. Summary: disappointed for the price. I Let the staff know before leaving and leaving a review for others to revise their expectations. They need to re-evaluate their price point.

From the moment we arrived we felt like family. Carlos and Drea were so welcoming and helpful. We were 2 miles from the National Park.

Fantastic tour! Our tour guide was knowledgeable- blending history with delicious foods to try. It gave us an opportunity to try things we might not otherwise know about and visit some great eateries. Was exactly the tour we hoped for and would highly recommend!

We choose this lodge for its location to the National Park. The welcome was warm and the lodge stayed in contact with us throughout. The bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was placed in our refrigerator each night, which we appreciated as it allowed us to eat early and be on our way. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the hot tub. One night we brought back food to eat at the nicely appointed table in our room. We were a very easy and quick drive to the NP. This allowed us to visit at midnight and see #50 eruption episode with very few people. It allowed us to go back several nights to see the eruption progress without much of a drive. Things we wish we knew before: we are in the rainforest and therefore it rains a lot. There are few amenities near by - the village has a couple of restaurants. Everything is very casual. Dress for dinner not needed! Would recommend for those who love our NP and want to be close by.

On arrival we were welcomed with an open cabin, lights on and the most beautifully set room. It was cosy, comfortable and everything we needed was there. As well as being set in the rainforest with incredible views all around! A very unique stay, that I would highly recommend to anyone!

Our stay at Volcano Village Lodge was outstanding from start to finish. The location is ideal—just a short drive to the entrance of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. We stayed in the Mauna Kea Suite, which offered complete seclusion nestled in the rainforest. The setting was peaceful, quiet, and deeply relaxing—exactly the kind of place you go to disconnect and recharge. The staff truly made the experience even better. Charlie greeted us and provided with local information. The breakfast was a tasty delight. Charlie and the other staff was welcoming, attentive, and ensured every detail of our stay was taken care of. If you’re looking for a tranquil retreat with easy access to the park, Volcano Village Lodge is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

The staff was so helpful, ensuring we had everything we need due to the upcoming storm. They even texted us when the volcano was fountaining so we could rush to view it! The kids loved waking up to the sights and sounds of a rainforest. Beautiful location.
