Meriton Suites Surfers Paradise

First time staying at a Meriton, and I'm thoroughly impressed! I got a room on the 28th floor, and it felt brand new. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need: pots, dishes, cutlery, dish soap, even a dishcloth – perfect for those of us who like to cook simple meals. The washer and dryer worked great, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was spotless. When I called for extra supplies, they were delivered quickly and generously. Highly recommend!

Having stayed at Meriton in Sydney and been thoroughly impressed, I booked two nights at their Gold Coast property, and to my surprise, the location, views, and facilities here were even better! It's just two tram stops from Surfers Paradise, and the tram station is an easy walk away. You step right out onto the beach, and the staff downstairs are all incredibly friendly. The room is huge – it's like a complete small apartment with a living room, kitchen, balcony, bedroom, a small hallway with a closet plus a washer/dryer, and a bathroom. I'd happily short-term rent this place for three months! The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, and a massive upright fridge, so you can store anything you buy. There's a full set of cooking and dining ware, and they even provide disposable dish soap. Both the living room and bedroom have large TVs. It feels like they invested a lot in the decor. There are sofas, tables and chairs, and even outdoor furniture on the balcony – very well-appointed. The bed and bedding are clean, soft, and comfortable, and the mattress firmness is just right. They provided both a washing machine and a dryer, which is incredibly convenient! The bathroom isn't small; there's plenty of space. Five stars! I'll definitely consider booking this chain for my entire trip next time.

Very satisfied! It's a shame it wasn't directly facing the sea, but I could still see the sunrise. The location is great, and the service is excellent. I even cut my foot on a shell, and the front desk staff were super helpful and gave me a plaster. All in all, a comfortable stay.

First off, the room's cleanliness was better than I expected, apart from a dried, white, unidentifiable substance I spotted on the curtains – everything else was fine. However, I arrived at 5 PM and was given the lowest floor. Over the next two days, I noticed many guests from higher floors in the elevator. All the Caucasians I encountered were staying on floors 20 and above, while other people of color weren't above the 13th floor (the hotel's lowest floor is the 6th). I can't help but wonder if this is a case of racial discrimination. Finally, I have to complain about the Chinese restaurant on the hotel's first floor. The wine was good, but the food was overpriced. Two of us spent 500 RMB per person and still weren't full. Pros: The hotel's location is excellent, right by the beach. It's also convenient to get to from the airport via public transport. Watching the sunrise is easy, and the rooms are very spacious. There's a shopping street and supermarket within a 10-minute walk.
