Again, exceptional. A bit off the beaten path, though just 30 minutes from Chateau Chambord. We had a dinner here with great service and high quality food in the gorgeous, historic dining room. We loved our suite (I suspect all rooms and suites are great here), the adult swimming pool with waiter service a welcome respite during the heat wave. Accessibility of massage and beauty services just a few steps from the rooms and pool. We enjoy everything about this beautiful hotel, it offers A LOT. Personnel, though mostly French-speaking - and our French is still poor - are always very helpful and charming. But breakfast falls surprisingly short of the rest. Hoping there will be some improvement on our next visit. In all of our travels, this continues to be one of our favorites.

We stayed 2 nights in early August during a week long visit in the Loire Valley - mother and teen daughter from Canada. My daughter was enchanted with the idea of staying in a cheateau and Borde did not disappoint! The property is as amazing as advertised. The lake, forest, gardens, pools, restaurant - everything was perfect for a country getaway. This is NOT a good hotel to make as your home base if you are planning to go out each day and explore. Borde IS the destination and you should plan on enjoying the property and everything it has to offer. We ventured in to Ramoratin-Lanthenay one day to grab some snacks and found it to be a charming town with a lovely walk along the river and cute shops. Highly recommend for a short outing. Overall I would recommend for all the reasons it advertises itself. It delivers on all accounts and notably the staff are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to be of service. I should also note that the air conditioning worked great in the heat and the wifi was also excellent across the property. The animals were the sleeper hit of our stay! My kid loves goats and would have hung out there all day petting them. A couple areas for improvement. Breakfast is not set up well to accommodate the number of guests. We arrived at 9:30 the first morning (closes at 10) and they had stopped replenishing food and dishes despite that it was packed at that time. We went at 8am the next morning and saw what we missed the day before! It is quite a good spread if you get there in time to catch it. The pools are great. We hung out at both the family and adult pool. Adult pool has access to the spa for towels and a bathroom while the family pool is a walk from everything, which must be annoying for the families with young kids. The temperature of both pools was perfect. I found our room to be more rustic than expected. Specifically, the floors are original (old, cracked, impossible to clean) and filthy. So we kept tracking dirty feet onto the beautiful white bathroom floor. The restaurant was not my favorite and given Borde’s isolated location - it’s the only viable option without venturing out. We ate there two evenings. First night was fine, second night our very expensive meal was not good and service definitely lacking. Super disappointing end to our stay and left me with a literal bad taste in my mouth

I have traveled extensively in many different countries. I'm blessed to be, primarily, a luxury traveler. For me, this was an almost perfect stay. I say almost since the personnel at breakfast really struggled, and we were surprised to return to our room after being gone all day to find the room hadn't been serviced. This was solved when I went to Reception. We could never get through to anyone on our room's phone. Ok, that's the negative. La Borde en Sologne is simply wonderful! Travelers have different preferences. But, we both agreed this may be our favorite hotel experience. For several years, part of our travel is to discover places spontaneously. If someplace looks great, we have no problem driving off the beaten path. This was part of that unplanned travel, found through Tablet Hotels. It was HOT in Europe, almost 40 degrees (over 100 F). The grounds and pool(s) did not disappoint. WE HAD A MOST WONDERFUL, RELAXING DAY at the adult pool. My partner also had what was possibly the best massage he's ever had. An added perk since we imagined the spa would be booked. Drinks were great. My favorite is an icy Brut champagne with peach (a Bellini). Personnel at the bar and at the pool worked it out. Heavenly! We LOVED everything about our Room S1, though a little one was running in the room above us our 2nd morning - early. Our wake-up call! I loved walking around the grounds early morning/evening. The lovely flowers and everything else added to the experience. Jenny at Reception was a joy. Very professional and helpful. I'll be disappointed if I never make it back. Merci!

Bad service The check-in process was quick and efficient, which created a positive first impression. However, several aspects of our stay fell short of expectations, particularly in relation to service and responsiveness. Upon arrival in our room, we discovered that the television was not functioning. Attempts to contact reception were unsuccessful, as no one could be reached. Breakfast service was especially disappointing. After waiting over 20 minutes without being attended to, we had to clear a table ourselves in order to be seated. Despite staff witnessing this, no assistance was offered. When we requested clean cutlery, it took more than 10 minutes, and we ultimately had to retrieve it ourselves from the kitchen. Additionally, a staff member accidentally broke a glass at the breakfast buffet and left large shards of glass on the counter near the coffee machine. Unfortunately, I sustained a minor scratch as a result, having not noticed the broken glass in time. Poolside service was similarly lacking. On multiple occasions, I had to go up to the restaurant three or four times to reorder water or other beverages, as my orders were repeatedly not delivered. On one occasion, I waited over 20 minutes in the restaurant just to receive a bottle of water—an unpleasant experience, particularly in 26°C heat. While the property itself is lovely, the level of service provided did not align with the price point of our stay. Significant improvements are needed to meet the standards expected fr
