Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund

The environment is absolutely stunning, perfect for taking photos! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, assisting with luggage and even offering welcome fruit. They also proactively helped us with a late check-out! The service is truly impeccable.

Thanks to the front desk for upgrading us to the Grand Suite! This old building has a story to tell, with exquisite and tasteful decor that's very well maintained, making you feel like you're in an ancient European hotel suite. On the service side, the Chinese restaurant tastes good, but breakfast is too simple. Besides vegetable salad, fruit, and bread, there's just a noodle station and a few à la carte items from a menu. The quality of the breakfast definitely doesn't match the room rate, especially considering it was during the New Year's Day holiday. There were few staff members, but they were still enthusiastic. It's clear that the hotel management has declined significantly compared to over ten years ago; everything seems to be about cutting costs. For instance, in the suite, tissue paper is only available in the bathroom, not on the living room table. You barely see any housekeeping staff in the corridors, and I won't even mention many other small details. Service is the soul of a five-star hotel, and at some point, it seems to have shifted from providing a 'home away from home' experience to a simple landlord-tenant relationship. Perhaps this is the current reality for five-star hotels in China.

The hotel's location is excellent, and the river view from the room is fantastic. The staff, from the front desk to the housekeeping team, were all polite, warm, and attentive. The gym is well-equipped. It's a shame I didn't bring a swimsuit to check out the pool. Even eating takeout feels more enjoyable with such a great river view!

I have to give a shout-out to Rookie from the Waldorf Astoria concierge team! As a first-time visitor, he genuinely surprised me with his warm and patient assistance, even helping me send a package. Mark was incredibly patient and efficient throughout, helping me plan my Shanghai fashion shopping itinerary. With him around, I didn't have to worry about planning anything for my trip! Max's service was also excellent, helping me take photos. The Christmas decorations were absolutely stunning. I'll definitely look for them again on my next visit!

Stayed here for Christmas. The hotel's location is excellent, making it convenient for getting around, and there's a parking lot. The hotel has a fantastic ambiance, and all the staff are very professional and enthusiastic. My check-in experience was top-notch, highly recommended.
