MGM Shanghai West Bund

The room was cozy with a lovely river view. The service was excellent, and the breakfast coffee was good, with oat milk as an option. They even provided earplugs at night! The rooftop bar with live music was perfect for a relaxing drink. Overall, it was a quiet place with great value for money.

I have to rave about CICI's recommendations! She told me about all the new shops that recently opened at the West Bund Dream Center, and I went to check them all out. She also mentioned a great exhibition at the museum next door, which I saw and absolutely loved. And she was right about the subway being convenient – I used it for two days with no hassle at all.

Staying at MGM Shanghai West Bund, I initially thought it would just be another hotel to sleep in, but it surprisingly brought me a whole day of good vibes! I have to give a special shoutout to Betty from Guest Relations! From the moment we connected on WeChat, it felt like I had a personal butler. She helped me upgrade to a river view room with an amazing panorama – truly exceptional attention to detail! The service was absolutely impeccable. The pool is a must-visit; swimming to the floor-to-ceiling windows made me feel like I was swimming in the clouds 🏊‍♀️. Thanks to Betty for the wonderful care, I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Shanghai!

For our Chinese New Year family trip, we chose the MGM Shanghai West Bund. I generally prefer hotels that are less than three years old and within a 10-minute walk to the subway, and this MGM fit the bill perfectly. It turns out that for the price, the MGM offers incredible value, both in terms of facilities and service. The day before we checked in, Cici and Chloe from guest relations called me, proactively added me on WeChat, and thoughtfully asked about the purpose of our trip and who would be staying, and if we needed anything special. Knowing we were traveling with a child, they even arranged for complimentary fruit and welcome desserts. During our stay, they frequently checked if we needed anything, like charging cables, or extra water since I drink a lot – and everything was immediately addressed and delivered. (This was much better than a certain luxury hotel across the street, even though I had booked an executive club room there, and this was just a standard room here!) Big kudos to Cici and Chloe! Now, about the hardware: aside from having to switch elevators once and the rather odd placement of the bathroom door (it opens directly towards the bed, not sure why!), it's almost flawless. If any family members visit Shanghai in the future, I'll wholeheartedly recommend the MGM.

The service was excellent, and we even got an upgrade during check-in. We basically had all our meals at the hotel over Chinese New Year, which was perfect. The complimentary mascot was a big hit with the kids. The only minor issue was that the bedside table in the suite had sharp corners, and my child accidentally bumped into it. However, the front desk staff was very thoughtful and offered a solution during check-out. I'd recommend that guests with children mention it during check-in, and the hotel will provide soft padding.

Traveling to Shanghai with my child this time, I was truly touched by Betty from Guest Relations and Zora Gao from the front desk – I just have to praise them both! Before we even arrived, Betty proactively contacted me, asking how old my child was and if we had any special requests. Upon arrival, Zora at the front desk handled our check-in super efficiently, and her demeanor was both gentle and decisive. The room itself was large and bright, with a panoramic view of the Huangpu River from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The housekeeping team had already prepared a children's toothbrush and small slippers, as requested in advance. The Dream Center for dining and the art museum for exhibitions were all within walking distance. With Betty arranging our needs beforehand and Zora handling check-in so efficiently, the entire trip was worry-free and heartwarming.
