Sand Sea Resort Railay Krabi

The environment is nice; you can spot lizards and monkeys, and the hotel is quite large. HOWEVER, for a 1500-baht room, the facilities are barely on par with a 200-baht room. The air conditioning doesn't work, the lighting is dim, the room is very old and rundown, and the duvet had a yellowish blanket stuffed inside. At most, you're paying for the environment. It would have been much better to stay in Ao Nang and travel back and forth. I really regret it.

The only two things this hotel has going for it are its convenient location and, for a beachfront hotel, the bedding wasn't damp. Other than that, don't expect the experience to match the price at all. We checked in after taking a boat from Ao Nang beach to Railay West beach. We arrived directly at the Sand Sea restaurant (yes, you have to wade through water, we left our large luggage at our Ao Nang hotel beforehand). However, we waited quite a while for the shuttle to check in, about 20 minutes. The front desk lets you choose your room, then the shuttle takes you there. The facilities are old and run-down, and it's hard to even maintain a visually clean appearance. It's just 'okay' to stay in. Remember to ask for a toothbrush when checking in; they don't provide them by default and won't remind you. To get around from the hotel, you mainly rely on the shuttle, which you call by phone. Coincidentally, our room phone was broken. Also, the breakfast is terrible. The restaurant had a sign saying 100kg of food was wasted yesterday, asking guests to save food. After two bites, I really wanted to write below it, 'Did you consider that it's so bad it's inedible?' If you want to go shopping, I recommend walking along West Beach. Exit Sand Sea, turn right, walk about 100 meters, then turn right again, and you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and entertainment there. It rained at sunset that day, so no sunset or evening glow. The rock climbing experience the next day was great! As a beginner, I found the difficulty, experience, and emotional value better than indoor climbing. It's highly recommended to try; a half-day is enough for beginners, as your forearms won't last much longer. After climbing, we had a quick bite and picked up our luggage, then followed the climbing group back to Ao Nang. We took East Beach, so no wading, but the pier we arrived at was quite far (I think it was Ao Nam Mao Pier). The climbing group used open-top vehicles to drop everyone off at their hotels.
