The Maxim Hotel Auckland

Pros: 1. Chinese-style service: They're generally accommodating when you ask for things like ice or laundry detergent, and they're efficient. 2. The room has a washer/dryer, refrigerator, microwave, and cooking utensils, including wine glasses, and various tea bags and a coffee maker. 3. They offered complimentary coffee, and the room had slippers and toiletries. 4. The location is quite convenient. Cons: 1. The WiFi is strictly 24 hours. It's not like you check in today and get it for the entire next day. They seem a bit particular about that. 2. If you have a lot of luggage and contact the front desk, they refuse to help. Even after contacting Trip.com for arrangements, you still have to carry your own bags to the car. This is a significant difference from what you'd expect in China. 3. There's no body lotion in the room. 4. The public restroom on the first floor has no mirror. 5. If you sit in the lobby, no staff member will attend to you, let alone offer you a bottle of water, which is common in China. Also, the music in the lobby is too loud and a bit noisy.

This is a great hotel for Chinese travelers, I stayed for a month! There was daily housekeeping, and as soon as I hung up the phone, the attendant arrived – that's China speed! Mineral water was provided daily, which saved me a lot of money. The room had a washing machine, a large refrigerator, a coffee machine, a toaster, a microwave… everything you could need. I really didn't want to leave! Right next door is a Chinese supermarket with good quality and low prices. It's about a 15-minute walk to a mall and another supermarket, and a bit further there are many Chinese restaurants. Staying here is incredibly convenient! Just a few minutes' drive away is a bay; there are so many bays on the North Shore, all so close to each other. Oh, and right across from the hotel is a popular internet-famous cafe – if you go late, you'll have to queue. Every morning, I woke up, drove to different bays and different cafes for breakfast, and saw different seas. It was truly delightful 😌

An absolutely perfect experience! It felt just like being back home. The management and service were impeccable. A perfect choice for a trip to Auckland, and Albany truly lives up to its reputation as the Chinese hub.

The hotel is very clean and quiet, and there's paid parking available. There's an Asian supermarket right across the street, and two large supermarkets are just a ten-minute walk away. Plenty of dining options nearby, too. It's about ten kilometers from the city center.

The environment is great, very clean, and the service is attentive. The view is also beautiful.
