Located out of the city center, the hotel is a classic modern construction, no charm. standard service and welcome. No recognition of Flying blue program at check in. Rooms are well equipped bed confortable but linen very basic. Bathroom ok except there was not hot water on that day... Breakfast offer good quality product and a large selection but the breakfast room is cheap. Hotel ok fro a one night stop or for group going to Abbaye de Lisieux.

Booked this after reading TripA reviews and looking for an hotel on the outskirts of Honfleur, staying overnight on a trip to the west coast. Arrived approx 22.30 after eating in Honfleur and the welcome was very good, pleasant and efficient considering the late(ish) hour. Rooms (our room anyway) somewhat dated now compared with Novotel etc - best place to inspect the old plumbing is from the loo seat (!) or bath - and an upgrade would not go amiss in the near future. But clean enough but slightly drab '80s colours and 'brown' corridors I thought. Slept well - room was advertised with mini-bar and internet access. Empty mini-bar (perhaps understandable for prepaid one night stand) and the internet access bit in the spiel subtly missed out the word 'free'! Not worth several Euros for an hour just to check the emails when we had only left Blighty a few hours before. These days, wireless or a cable should be f.o.c. in all the rooms? We declined the steepish breakfast mentioned by some and whinged that all we wanted was a coffee and croissant and hey presto were obligingly offered the 'bar breakfast' at £6.00 each - coffee, croisant, jams and orange juice. Just the job! Very pleasant service at check-out by (the manageress I think) Emily of Franco / Yorkshire descent - perfect English to assist our Franglais - and we drove away refreshed and happy feeling we had received good service and value for money. Would stay again if passing - and would appreciate a lighter, brighter refurb of the room and corridors when it happens as I'm sure it must. 8/10 from us.

had 2 double rooms for one night in July 2011. Happy with equipment of rooms, cleanliness, bathrooms. Good breakfast buffet. Very friendly and helpful manager who gave us directions to nearest chemist open on a Sunday. v. convenient parking free of charge in front of hotel only negative comments: pillows were too hard and bulky to our liking a faint smell of smoke lingered in the rooms

Arrived late - 15 mins after restaurant had closed. No room service, no snacks ... no food whatsoever for sale in the Hotel ..... Etap & Ibis do better than this !! Asked at reception about local restaurants ..... met with "a shrug" and "I don't know". Allocated room on ground floor .... warm night .... no air conditioning ..... no shutters or roller shutters .... no security features on ground floor windows. Large floodlight outside window attracted bugs so put up with heat. Certainly not Mercure standard and should not be branded as such.

We got quite a surprise and it was a little unnerving, (when finally negotiating the difficult road layout of the traffic island immediately adjacent to the Hotel), to find the Hotel Mercure Lisieux surrounded by dozens of Police vehicles! We were to discover that they were staying at the Hotel for 10 days ... but could not establish the reasoning for their stay. Nonetheless we had an enjoyable overnight stay which was suprisingly quiet. The receptionist was extremely polite and warmly welcomed us, happy to advise and help in guiding us to the centre of Lisieux ... a little distance away necessitating driving. Parking was free at the Basilica and is well worth a visit before discovering Lisieux shopping centre. An evening meal catered well for Gluten-Free needs in the Hotel restaurant and breakfast alos offered a good choice. This was the only Mercure Hotel that we stayed in during our motoring adventure to Portugal, Spain and France (encompassing 4000+ miles) where tea/coffee making facilities were not provided in the room. The Hotel was ideally placed for the final leg of our most adventurous journey and proved to be a comfortable distance to travel to Calais in order to catch the EuroTunnel.

The staff were helpful, friendly and polite. Rooms were good and very clean. My sister and I travelled with a u3a group. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent I would recommend this hotel to stay in. We, as a group were held up on one evening and we were booked to have dinner at the hotel. The meals were cooked fresh for when we did get back. The only criticism was that the bar drinks were a bit pricey, but no more than other hotels or restaurants. Thank you for being so hospitable

We were part of a coach tour, staying for 5 nights at the hotel. The hotel itself was clean, the room was on the second floor with a velux window and slopping ceiling, so care was advisable walking around. The room was a fairly good size and the bathroom and shower were satisfactory. The beds were made daily and towels were changed. The hotel is on the outskirts of the town with a few fast food outlets near. There was an outside pool, which was half covered and looked dirty, would be advisable to clean it up as it took from the image of the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style and there was the usual continental selection, cold meats, cheese, fruit, fresh bread and pastries and facility to boil eggs. Tea and coffee as well as freshly squeezed orange juice. No issue with the breakfast. Unfortunately the buffet dinner in the evening was disappointing. There was a selection of salads and desserts which were adequate. The main course was a choice of fish or meat but there never seemed to be enough of it. Some people failed to get main courses on nights. We were presented with the same fish for 4 nights and the meat was only fair, with a stew like meat one night totally inedible. Ours was a set menu by arrangement with the coach company and hotel, there was a menu for other guests, however it would have been nice if they had a notice advising as to what meat and fish we were being served. Following our complaints and intervention from the tour guide we had salmon on our last night and chicken. The staff were not especially friendly with one man in particular being quiet rude. The impression that I got at dinner time was that the group was an inconvenience. Unfortunately the hotel which is nice, let itself down with the dinner and poor customer care.

A very comfortable attic room, wonderful fluffy pillows, very clean. Warm at night. Food basic but ok. Breakfasts lovely. Lots on offer. I felt that the staff were a bit distant and not very welcoming. This was a pity. I still enjoyed my stay.
