Tangtao Yard Hostel (Xiamen Gulangyu Fuxing Castle)

To be honest, I didn't have very high expectations for accommodations on Gulangyu Island, as the lodging environment there is usually just so-so. However, Yangtao Courtyard, as a hundred-year-old building, genuinely surprised me with how well-balanced it is in every aspect.

The room exceeded our expectations, it had a great vibe. It was a good size, with high ceilings, and very comfortable and quiet. There's a fantastic breakfast spot nearby that the owner recommended, their soy milk is homemade! This was definitely the best night's sleep we had in Xiamen. Highly recommend, the owner is lovely.

The room was very comfortable, and it was lovely to sit in the small courtyard. The owner was also very welcoming and even helped with our luggage. It's really close to where you go to watch the sunrise. I'd definitely come back to stay again if I have the chance!

I absolutely love the courtyard! This is my second time here. It's a beautiful, very retro old villa, and the atmosphere is even more incredible at night. The cats are super friendly, and the front desk staff are incredibly warm and their service is really thoughtful. Oh, I just love Gulangyu and I especially love Yangtao Courtyard. I'll definitely be back, haha!

The front desk staff was very patient and gentle. My initial room had some noise issues, and they kindly helped me switch rooms. On my first day, it was sunny, and the hotel has a charming old mansion vibe. There are four cats – Yangtao, Zhaocai, Huabi, and Guiyuan – in the hotel. I saw three of them, and they were all adorable. All in all, it was a good stay.

Extremely satisfied… The front desk staff, Xiao Huang, was very welcoming and enthusiastic, introducing the hotel's history and general information, etc. Very, very satisfied…

Such a charming B&B! It was clean and comfortable. The owner's service was absolutely amazing; they even upgraded my room without me asking! Thank you to the owner! Plus, there are two adorable cats at the front desk. I'll definitely be back to stay again next time. See you later, kitties!
