We’ve decided to stay in this hotel for 2 nights during the New Year holidays.
First of all, on the bright side:
- The villa itself, the location, and the view were fantastic and wonderful: we really enjoyed spending time in the villa, taking in the natural scenery outside.
- The staff was friendly and always ready to help.
- The Hibachi cooking show — and particularly the chef — was our hero!
- One day, the hotel organized a taxi for us to visit all the main waterfalls in the Munduk area (there are no Grab/Gojek taxi services available in that region — please keep this in mind).
- We also played pool in the lobby, which was a nice extra.
- There was a great New Year’s live band performance.
But there are certainly a few flies in the ointment — or areas for improvement — that we would like to share:
1. When we arrived, we were simultaneously suggested to join the Hibachi show and dinner during check‑in, and it felt a little pushy (which you wouldn’t expect in such a place). For example, without getting our final decision, the manager decided to add the most expensive item from the menu to our order. It was resolved swiftly, but we still felt a bit like we were in a tourist trap rather than a relaxing environment.
2. The taxi service for visiting the Munduk area felt a bit overpriced.
3. Breakfast was okay, but we expected a greater variety of choices.
4. The swimming pool is located right next to the restaurant, which feels odd, and there is no nearby space to simply relax on a sunbed by the pool.
5. And the worst thing: when we left the hotel, we were offered a taxi driver to take us to another place. Midway through our ride, we realized that the car was full of beetles and cockroaches! We definitely expected a higher level of attention to the condition of drivers’ vehicles for guests.
So, all in all - nice place but services quality should be improved in our opinion in order to justify value for money.
