We did not like this hotel. Our ratings: The welcome: 2 out of 10 The sleep quality 2 out of 10 The guest experience 1 out of 10 The price/comfort ratio: 2 out of 10 When we, arrived we were allowed to check in, even though it was before 16:00 (without an extra charge). That was a positive. Mme was perfunctory, not friendly or warm. We had help from the friendly Indian and the Nepali getting all of our luggage to the room—up the 1 ½ flights of stairs. There was only one luggage rack, we needed more. A young man (who turned out to be Chef’s and Mme’s son) came to the room and angrily said “one luggage rack per room”, notwithstanding that there were two people in the room with suitcases. The air conditioning in Suite #1 worked; that was a positive. There was an automatic light that went on in the entry hall where door to only toilet was located. Every time we went to the toilet that light went on and off (every 10 seconds or so). From that hall there was a very, very heavy door to the bedroom that slammed shut. So, when we went to the bathroom at night, the hall light went on and off and on and off. If we weren’t really careful (or if we didn’t prop the door open), that door slammed with a bang. Between the door slamming and the light going on and off, sleep was difficult when someone went to the toilet at night (which we do often). We were charged 200€ for a flimsy table that collapsed when Audre stood on it to try to reach and cover the automatic light sensor. Fortunately no part of Audre’s body broke when she fell. The room itself was quiet enough in spite of the noisy floor boards. Mme found us electric bikes to rent nearby. That was a positive. Other than that, our guest experience was bad. We had asked for certain things to be done to personalize our room. Nothing at all was done. When we arrived, Audre re-made the made, removing the comforter (which is too hot for us), and so on. We were made to feel like what we asked for was excessive: as if we were pains in the neck and it felt terrible. There was no mini refrigerator in the suite. Audre asked Mme if she could put some food in the hotel’s frig. Mme said yes. At dinner on our first night, Audre could not eat all of the (delicious—a positive) food. She carries plastic containers for this contingency and she put food in her containers. She asked the server to add the containers to the food of hers already in the frig. The next morning when Audre asked Chef if she could have her containers for our picnic, he said he threw them out. Audre lost it; those containers were the perfect sized plastic and they had been very difficult to find (and also had our lunch in them). If he didn’t want her food in the frig, why didn’t he have his staff throw the food out and wash her containers? He disrespected her property which violates Rule Number One for a hotelier. He never explained or said anything conciliatory. Later a housekeeper came to our door with some flimsy, oddly-sized plastic containers

I was traveling in the area and decided to walk up to this boutique hotel and check out the restaurant for a future visit. I entered the hotel and there was no reception or sign of life. I walked through the hallways until I found what I thought was the restaurant. A very unfriendly and unwelcoming man emerged from what appeared to be a kitchen and looked at me suspiciously as if I had trespassed on his property. I explained I was thinking of dining here with friends in the future but he showed no interest and instead started leading us out of the building. I believe he must have been the owner or chef. I explained I had family in the area, but he showed no interest and so I walked through the hallways again and another woman emerged saying hello in a menacing voice, again as if I was breaking and entering. I worked in hospitality and must say this was highly irregular. Needless to say we won’t be dining here or recommend the place to our affluent friends.

The customer service was absolutely horrendous. We were greeted by the rudest woman with a frosty ‘what are you doing’ as we looked around the communal area waiting for our check in. Made to feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome, they clearly had it in for us as soon as we arrived. Our friend was getting married close by so we booked this place to spend a couple of days there before and to get ready for her big day and they unfortunately ruined that experience for her constantly telling us to be quiet in the middle of the day where we were literally just getting ready, chatting, excited for her big day. The food was really not to our taste, it was average at best, but we were given no choice on the menu and if we tried to ask for anything additional or even any information for our group with allergies and pregnant women we were met with outrage! How dare we ask for something else. The chef literally put his hand up to my pregnant friends face when she asked for an omelette at breakfast. I travel frequently around the world for my job and have done so for years and have never experienced such rudeness or terrible customer service in my life. We literally left 24 hours before we were due to check out because we could not stay there any longer. Such a shame because the building is quite beautiful; it was extremely disappointing.

I have been wanting to stay at this hotel for so long. It is stunning and has amazing views of the French countryside and vineyards. I have been in the area for many years and have met so many fabulous people and eaten at some fantastic restaurants. I took the opportunity to book a stay here for myself and my wedding party the night before my wedding and my rose tinted glasses soon came off. I had booked a table for us all the night before and there were 14 of us in total. We were told what we were eating and weren’t even given the menu in the hotel, this had been booked in advanced so I found the hotel were very unorganised. Two of my party were also pregnant and were served raw fish which is unsafe. The hotel also provided us with this fish the following morning at breakfast where again we were given no information or menu. Just given whatever had been decided for us. Whilst getting ready for my wedding we were continually interrupted with complaints about the noise and the fact we had food in our rooms. The response from Jean-Paul Tossens on the below reviews is true, we did have McDonald’s in the rooms but at no point were our needs met or handled professionally, we also had no other option and were hungry. We were told we had to bin the food as if we got sick, they would have to clean it up. Quite a silly response. At this point I’d like to add that we’re a group of 30 something professional adults not teenagers. My friends checked out early as they were made to feel so unwelcome by the staff at the hotel and we have been sent a bill for 3 early check-ins which isn’t the case. When we arrived we weren’t able to check in early and had to wait until it was convenient for the staff to check us in. There is one waiter in the hotel, a young guy who was extremely helpful and kind, but this is the only positive I have. I am saddened to have to write such a review but the service was poor and unacceptable. The chef/owner was rude and aggressive and his ego was far bigger than his ability to cook. A huge shame in my opinion. I will never return and do not recommend.

This place is the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in! The staff here are the rudest, nastiest, most unprofessional people I’ve encountered! I’m still completely in shock how they treat my family & friends. This trip was supposed to be a very special memorable weekend as one of our friends got married just a couple of miles from this venue. However , the man & woman that run this hotel made sure it was anything but that. It’s unbelievable given the standard this hotel is supposed to be at! We ended up leaving a night early as we couldn’t stand to be in this place any longer! It is falsely advertised as a clean , luxury establishment however the pool was extremely dirty , the rooms smelt & were sub par! The food was some of the worst we’ve ever eaten , two of our friends were pregnant & the insisted on repeatedly serving them raw & undercooked food that would have been dangerous to consume! They also told us we are not allowed to bring any food into the hotel to eat in our room because if we get sick they have to clean it up! I have never heard such a ridiculous statement ! The worst experience we’ve ever had & we travel most weekends staying in all different hotels around the world… if I can give you one piece of advice DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!

Absolutley awful experience avoid at all costs. We went this hotel as part of a wedding party and have never experienced such rudeness from the staff . Not only this but when we arrived the pictures were certainly deceiving, especially the pool which they could take much better care of. The staff were abusive, especially the male in the kitchen, who if you wanted options to eat was angry and offensive - we asked for a cheese omelette and he said we have it with bacon in it or not at all. He made a point of looking up and down and making us feel terribly uncomfortable. We ended up leaving early because the place was just awful - I really would not reccomend this hostile and frosty hotel unless you like to be treated like dirt on a shoe.

The worst hotel I have EVER stayed in. Do not book, avoid avoid avoid. We visited this hotel for a 3 night stay as we were attending our friends wedding close by. When we arrived we were told we couldn’t check in until 4pm although on the booking it says 3pm. They told us there was no bar we had to sit and wait for them to take our order. We were told off for making noise and we were told we had to stay quiet for the other guests, we were only talking and laughing with our friends. We booked a table for the evening meal and our friends were served food they couldn’t eat due to being pregnant. This was raw fish, and they continued to serve this to us for breakfast even though we had already explained we didn’t want it. The staff didn’t let us look at a food menu and told us we would be served what the chef wanted to cook. The chef (owner I think) was a horrible rude man. He dismissed our requests for food and drinks, I have never experienced this in a hotel before. We were starving so we went to get some of our own food to eat in the hotel and the staff told us we couldn’t do this and we had to bin the food we had bought. The pool was dirty and the area around it was dirty. The hotel smelt awful too. It was my friends wedding morning and she was getting ready in the hotel and the staff were repeatedly rude to us. They kept knocking on the door telling us to be quiet and that we couldn’t eat our own snacks. The lady and man that own this hotel have no customer service skills what so ever and are extremely rude. They made us feel like they didn’t want us there in the first place. Please do not waste your money. We had the worst stay ever and would never return. We actually left early due to being extremely upset about our stay.

This is an exemplary hotel and restaurant. The food is better than anywhere we have eaten in France and we have travelled widely and eaten at the best. The Japenese restaurant is superb. Better cuisine than we had in Asia. Absolute perfection and attention to detail. If you are travelling in SW France this is where you should stay and eat if you are fussy.
