Pujing Waiting Hotel (Shanghai People'S Square Xinzha Road Subway Station)

I booked the hotel seeing the positive reviews. The reception lobby looked good and presentable. However, as soon as i entered the room and checked the shower. It looked old and dirty with water stain and mold in the corners and in between tiles. They gave me a room on the 5th floor where i could hear the traffic noise and people talking. The room also didn’t look like the one i had booked for. I let the reception know and they offered to change the room. But the good thing was that the room had a washing machine and miceowave. However, i didn’t require that. The new room we moved to, the shower room looked same with water stain, mold and overall unclean. I could also smell cigeratte in the bed and was unable to have a good night sleep because of that. But i tried to ignore that. However, next day after a long day of sightseeing when we returned to the hotel and had a shower. There was a strong 'poo smell' coming from the shower and spread through the room. It was to an extent that we were unable to breath without inhaling the stink. I notified the reception again and they offered to change the room again. Fortunately this new room had a better air but the shower rook was still the same. Overall i have significant concern regarding the hygiene standard and the cleanliness of this hotel. I appriciated they offered me complimentary food and breakfast as a way of apologising. However, my Shanghai experience was greatly impacted by this hotel situation. I was considering moving to a new hotel, however, due to mid Autumn festival at the time, all the other hotels were really expensive for me to do that. I also was exhausted of travelling China the past 1.5 weeks and was looking forward to having a relaxing time in Shanghai. But unfortunately that didn’t happen. This hotel also doesn’t have enough washing machines & drier in their laundry. So there was always a long queue. However, when i did manage to wash my clothes, they helped to dry and fold them and left at my door. The reception ladies were nice, polite and professional. The location of the hotel os excellent due to easy access to metro station line 1. However, despite this i would not consider coming back to this place. If hygiene is not a big issue for someone, this is a great place to stay.

rooms r quite clean , people r very friendly and welcoming, service is good all not bad ! Very nice environment

In overall it’s a very pleasant experience. Convenient and clean, but the clean ies of the room can be upgraded in more details. Service are friendly. Location just beside xinzha rd station exit 5. Two minutes walk out of the exit. Easy to get by Suzhou creek and along the way to the bund as well as Nanjing road and JingAn area. Joy city is within the close proximity. A lot of nice breakfast around the area and convenient store.

Excellent location. Less than 300m to subway station line 1. Very convenient to getting around Shanghai due proximity to subway. Walkable to both East and West Nanjing road as well as the Bund. Front staff were generally friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good but lacked the variety of other hotels we experienced on this trip. We would stay at this hotel again just based on it’s proximity to the subway.
