Mutsu Grand Hotel

You can enjoy the city view while having breakfast. The hot springs and sauna are nice.

1st time having Japanese tatami room. It give a much spacious look. I like it but not my wife. A bit difficult to get up and don't get use to sit cross leg on tatami. Like the view from hotel room and especially at top floor where we had our dinner and breakfast. Like the food served at both meals. A good location to stay to have sightseeing at Kawauchigawa keikoku stream and Hotoke-ga-ura Rock formation.

We stayed a night at the Grand Hotel Mutsu. It's probably the most prominent building in Mutsu, offers a great view of the city, and has a grand history. As many other reviewers have noted, its decor looks fairly dated. But other than that, the hotel is clean and has all the key amenities one would need. There's an onsite onsen, while the restaurant at the top floor has great views and serves a delicious breakfast. Rooms are pretty decently sized with comfortable beds. The only drawback is the early checkout (10am). Other than that, it's a solid choice for a stay in Mutsu.
