Hotel Puri Melaka

Nestled right next to Chicken Alley scenic area, this hotel offers a quiet retreat despite its central location. It's a beautifully renovated ancient building, meticulously decorated to exude a rich Chinese cultural ambiance. The hotel itself is a picturesque sight. The renovation is still quite new, yet they've preserved the original antique calligraphy and paintings.

For my trip to Malacca, I chose this hotel. The hotel's interior is decorated with antique-style furnishings. The lobby features fresh flowers, creating a very elegant atmosphere. The family room is spacious, with one large bed and two single beds, plus birthday decorations, comfortably accommodating a family of four. There's even an adjoining lounge area. There's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage up and down, but the floors aren't high, so it's not a big issue. Right next door is a famous Nyonya cuisine restaurant (you can easily spot it in the photos). The hotel is located right next to Jonker Street, making it quiet yet central, and very convenient for getting around. After visiting the night market, there's no need to take a taxi back to the hotel. Highly recommended!

Our superior quad room was a bit cramped. Room 212 had a musty smell and the bathroom tended to flood easily. However, the breakfast was excellent, and the front desk service was good. The environment was the best, and the location was fantastic.

The hotel environment is nice. It's very close to the Melaka River and Jonker Street, making it convenient to go anywhere.

This hotel definitely has a lot of character. Let's start with the positives: the lobby is absolutely stunning, steeped in history, and truly a sight to behold. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of unique fruits and dishes. The dining area itself was comfortable, cozy, and elegant, making you feel like you're dining in a historical masterpiece. Now for the downsides: the hotel is quite old, and the facilities and equipment are showing their age. The bedding was also not up to par; the duvet in our room was stained with what looked like blood, and we had to call someone to replace it. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor. While being on Jonker Street is convenient for exploring, it also means traffic jams every time a vehicle tries to enter, making getting in and out a bit of a hassle. If you prioritize unique character and historical charm, this hotel might be for you. However, if quality and attention to detail are your main concerns, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
