I am writing this review to potentially help others from making the same mistake. I made a reservation a few months ahead. When we arrived, the inn was a total mess. The owner said that they had a renovation project that they hadn’t finished. We were never told that there were renovations happening. The kitchen was disgusting with dirty dishes all over the counters. I would never have eaten anything made in that kitchen. Boxes of ‘stuff’ everywhere (porch, entryway, kitchen, etc) and had obviously been there for a long time. The owners, particularly, Ann, are a couple of cons. I will say that the bedroom and bathroom appeared to be as represented on their website except for the pile of dead beetles on a sill that had obviously been there for quite awhile. None of the rest of the inn looked anything like the pictures. The dining table was covered with papers. It was so bad that we did not stay and the owners refused to provide a refund.

We had a wonderful stay! The homemade breakfast was amazing and a highlight of our visit. The rooms were clean, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They gave us excellent dinner recommendations that made our trip even better. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

Could have been very good to excellent experience except for two things. The long front porch and lower level of the house were filled with boxes, tools, magazines, suit cases, assorted odds and ends. The table adjacent the kitchen was the only uncluttered area. The explanation was remodeling. Breakfast was disappointing, not as described in some reviews. A very good yogurt with berry compote, then two scrambled eggs, one piece of bacon and one slice of untoasted sourdough bread. No juice, french toast, butter or jam. Emily and Joe are very nice folks, but it seems we caught High Hill at a bad time.

I had a most enjoyable stay. The hosts were gracious. The room was really perfect. The views are amazing. The breakfast was super yummy— local & fresh. The only picky thing I could think of is that the service was on paper plates. I get it in some respects. However, if you’re hosting guests and they’re paying for quality accommodations the small things matter too! Basic ceramic plates, mugs and glassware would have been nice. But again, I realize this is a small detail.

My stay at “High Hill Inn” was not comfortable at all. The 3rd floor room has a very strange setup. It was very warm even though they had a small air conditioner and a fan. It is essentially the attic and with all the roof pitches, I smacked my head on pitched walls and low ceilings multiple times. This is a room in a home, not really an inn at all. The house is very cluttered inside and out. It seems the gimmick of using online booking only to have the owner call and ask to book through her instead, has been used multiple times. The old cars and junk around the yard are very off putting. Needless to say, my daughter and I were not comfortable at all. The crouch through doorway to get into the bedroom area was awful and my back is very sore from the whole experience. The view was beautiful, the owners are nice people and the simple breakfast tasted good but for the money it was honestly no deal at all. I would not stay there again.

We loved our stay at High Hill Inn. We booked last minute on a holiday weekend and Ann and Joe were extremely accommodating. The room/suite was well appointed and very comfortable. They were in the middle of doing some renovations, so there were some items stacked here and there, but nothing affected our room or stay at all. I think my favorite part of staying here were the conversations with Joe, the excellent food and of course, the views. We would go back in a heartbeat. 💕

Joe and Ann are excellent hosts in this extraordinary B&B located in East Montpelier, Vemont, with amazing views of snow-capped mountains. It didn't matter how cold it was, the scenery was the main focus of this journey. Our room was spacious, clean and, had all the needed amenities to feel relaxed. With this serene and wooded setting, it is the perfect place to unwind after exploring beautiful northern Vermont. Joe's special touches at breakfast prepared us for a busy day of being outdoors. We would love to go back when it is warmer to experience High Hill Inn's outdoor decks and grounds. Thank you both for a great birthday weekend!

False advertising, do not stay here. Not an inn, rooms to let in a private home that’s immediately off putting. The front yard has various junk cars and boats, etc. We couldn’t believe it was where we were staying. A few hours before checking in, the owner had apologized for a “a few boxes on the front porch” due to ongoing renovations. What an embarrassing understatement! The interior of the house is worse. Hallways and kitchen stuffed full of full various items, and our room hadn’t been vacuumed or dusted in what seemed like months. It would have been a nice view if you could have seen through the filthy windows. The room was full of ladybugs and dead flies. Spoke to the owner about these issues and she made excuses for everything. As nicely as I could, I said I felt the rate of $450 was very high for the condition of the place. Her answer was that it was the going rate. Perhaps for a nice and CLEAN actual inn. Couldn’t wait to leave, didn’t even stay for breakfast.

I’m so thankful I stumbled upon this gem! Ann-Marie was so kind to speak with when assisting me with my reservation. The house had such a nice cozy/homey feel to it that I found very comforting. I had the pleasure of staying in the 3rd floor junior loft. To say the view was breathtaking is an understatement. Even with stormy weather, I couldn’t believe how beautiful and peaceful the scenery was. I did luck out and get to catch a bit of the sunset on my first night before the clouds rolled in. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, as were the linens. It was such a pleasure getting to chat with Joe, Ann-Marie’s husband, who also owns the inn. He was so inviting and made me feel as if I’d known him for years. I could have sat and talked with him all weekend. He also makes a delicious pot of coffee. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway close to town and popular skiing areas, I highly recommend High Hill Inn. I can’t wait to book my next visit!!! Thank you Joe & Ann-Marie for making my first ever solo vacation one I’ll always remember :)
