YHA Penzance

It is very far from the penzance town, take more than 30mins walk and uphill. Staff is nice, hotel is clean.

The hostel was very helpful in accommodating our schedule.

It was a wonderful stay ,perfect place to explore tent stay.

We'd never been to Penzance before; our booking was one of checking where in Cornwall had hostel availability and we'd try it. Penzance had dorm availability so we went for it. Yes, it's a fair walk out of Penzance (30ish mins) but it's a lovely building in a quiet location. Dorm rooms were comfortable - decent (bunk) beds, enough room for the 6 beds allocated. Reasonable amount of shared bathroom facilities. We self catered - really well equipped self cater kitchen - but also with rooms being above the entrance/main dining area we woke up each morning to the lovely smell of breakfasts cooking.

Fairly large YHA closer to town than a lot of YHAs are (~15-20mins on foot to the promenade and a big Lidl, little longer to town centre. You do have to cross a fairly busy single carriageway A road) I stayed here for one night as part of a short bikepacking trip to Land's End. It has a secure bike store I wasn't nervous about leaving my bike in. Room was clean. Breakfast was decent. All staff very friendly and helpful. Some shared facilities were a little busy at times - I went at the beginning of the school year and there was a school group, which is to be expected at a YHA. Shower took quite a long time to heat up, to the point where I was apprehensive about wasting water and just had a cold shower (it got hot at the end!) Excellent value for money, as YHAs always are. Would recommend for anyone cycling around or otherwise visiting West Cornwall on a budget.

The location isn’t great. It’s 15 min away from the main road. There’s no curtain/bed divider that will add for your privacy. My electric outlet and lamp not working. Locker wise, you need to bring your own padlock to secure your things.

I stayed at the yha in Penzance for four nights in a private room at £35 per night. The room was clean and the bed (one of four bunks) a little small but ok. It was fairly busy so access to nearest toilet and shower not always available. The staff were polite and unobtrusive, however I did overhear one staff member asking a Belgian guest to wash up in a bowl so as to save water. The reservoirs being full this time of year. Breakfast was ok am vegan so there was only just enough variety in the cooked breakfast, also all condiments were in little packets, which is something I don't like. The kitchen was well equipped, clean and spacious. The dining area being similar. There is a lounge but I didn't use it. Being the yha it does have a slightly parental attitude towards its guests reflected by the signage in the hostel. There is a pleasant half hour walk into town or the promenade, marred by a potentially dangerous road crossing. Overall my stay here was positive and for the price it is good value for money.

Stayed here on a two-night stay as part of a 60th Birthday Celebration holiday. The hostel is set in it's own grounds at the end of a private roadway through some beautiful woodland (be warned, it is very hilly!) and about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop. The room I stayed in was a small single at the rear of the building, adequately equipped with a small handbasin in the corner and enough sockets for recharging, etc. (There are showers/toilets along the corridor on the same floor). The dining room is very spacious with a good range of cooked foods for breakfast/dinner and a reasonable price. I very much enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to make a return visit.
