Ohana

If you are a japanophile, longing for the by gone days before Japan was hit with over tourism ,when service was sincere and warm , and when the atmosphere in the ryokans was dignified and civilized, then Tachibana Tei Ohana is a must stay for you. The service in this hotel was top notch warm and genteel. The staff bows deeply to you whenever they meet you. The hotel patrons respect the cultured atmosphere and during mealtimes people speak in hushed quiet respectful tones so as not to disturb others. Breakfast and Kaiseki dinner were excellent and in just the correct portions so you do not feel pressured to finish all the food on your plate.The rooms were clean and all amenities are available. There are free drinks in the reading lounge in the evenings which is a nice place to unwind after a day of activities. Unfortunately when we were there, the canals in Yanagawa were drained to facilitate repair works so the quaint canal atmosphere Yanagawa is famous for was absent. All in all an excellent hotel worthy of its long history . Highly recommended.

We stay here two nights... Its a surprise for us.. Ohana has own museum, Japanese Garden and lakes.. The room Very big and comfort. Delicious and healthy Breakfast served

Please do yourself a favor and book this place. This was the highlight of my family's stay in Japan, seriously. Every detail here is considered, it'll take you 10 minutes just to look through every little thing they've added for you in the rooms. The woman who owns it (18th generation samurai family) came to talk to us about the place and it was honestly one of the most special moments of the trip. You can easily take trains here but it was easy to Uber from Hakata. Well worth it.
