I spent four wonderful nights at Gangtey Lodge in June 2026, and it was the highlight of my time in Bhutan. The setting is simply extraordinary — the lodge offers an almost panoramic view of the Phobjikha Valley, and waking up to that sweeping landscape each morning never got old. You could sit for hours just watching the light change over the valley. What truly sets Gangtey Lodge apart, though, is the people. Owners Omar and Brett are the soul of this place — warm, genuinely friendly, and professionally attentive in a way that makes you feel like a guest in someone's home rather than a customer in a hotel. It's that rare balance of five-star quality and authentic human warmth that so many luxury properties strive for but few actually achieve. Every detail feels considered without being fussy, every interaction feels personal without being intrusive. After four nights, leaving felt less like checking out of a hotel and more like saying goodbye to friends. If you're visiting the Phobjikha Valley, I can't imagine a better place to stay. I'm already hoping to return.

Stayed at Gangtey Lodge for three nights during my 11 days solo trip across Bhutan. I came needing a reset , and this place delivered on every level. The service is next level. From room service to guides, every detail is handled with genuine warmth, care, and precision. Special shout out to the management team — Gustini and Keke. As seasoned global hospitality leaders, they are present from start to end of day, truly understanding each guest and going above and beyond to ensure everyone is looked after. As a global traveller, this level of passion and care is rare — a true diamond in the rough. Having stayed at multiple five-star hotels across Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro, Gangtey Lodge is my number one, even ahead of the big global brands. It’s all the small details that truly add up. If you’re after great food, privacy, comfort, quality, cultural immersion, and a genuine soul reset (think bubble baths with Himalayan views and Bhutanese music, or relaxing by the fireplace under a starry night ), this is it. Highly recommend. You won’t regret it.

This is a lodge that lives up to its reputation. It is located in a beautiful alpine valley in Bhutan on the edge of a typical village with a historic temple and just five minutes away from a Buddhist monastery and school. The small scale property (ten rooms) describes itself as a ‘farm house”, but is so much more. The thing that justifies its inclusion in the small luxury hotel brand is above all the quality of the service and the attention to detail. If you a sitting in the central reception space for more than a couple of minutes they will come and set the fire; if you are reading in the area enjoying a coffee and evening creeps in they bring a small reading light to make sure you can continue; if you sit before breakfast in the beautiful sunlight on the terrace some appears with a blanket or hot water bottle to remove the dawn chill. This not so much that these things happen, but that people notice and do this without asking. All this in a relaxed, low key atmosphere with exceptional rooms with their own fires and wood and the best food we enjoyed during our stay. Beyond that a variety of activities linked to the school, including evening and morning prayers - an exceptional, if chilly experience, spa treatments in your room (if that’s what you like - not our cup of tea), archery, mountain bikes to borrow and some truly amazing hikes starting at the front door. This is a truly exceptional place in an amazing part of this country, thanks to wonderful people that run and staff it.

We loved our stay at the lodge and we did a bunch of the extra's they offer. We did the hot stone bath followed by a massage. Then we had a very romantic dinner in a wood shed. In the morning we had breakfast at the temple. All in all we had a great stay.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Gangtey. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Bhutan. The accommodations were very comfortable and the view of the valley unbeatable! Food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. Everyone is very well trained — the manager has been doing a fantastic job! Be sure to get a spa treatment as well — the hot stone bath and massage afterwards and a MUST. I will miss having my milk tea out on the veranda each morning or sitting by the fire and unwinding each evening!

Our stay at Gangtey Lodge was absolutely fantastic. From the moment of arrival - I won’t spoil the surprise/s - it is a luxurious home away from home. Every member of staff was so hospitable and gentle. Credit to the amazing Gustini GM, Kuntal the chief chef, and the charming Zack M who combine with everyone to make it a most memorable stay. Also had a lovely in-room massage, relaxing bath, excellent drinks, great food, and wonderful terrace views - together with blankets, hot water bottles and heat packs for chilly mornings. 6 stars.

I booked the whole of our tour of Bhutan around staying at this lodge and even months in advance there was only availability for one night during our entire trip. Having exceptionally high expectations, I arrived with some trepidation. However there was no need, this lodge is absolutely outstanding. The welcome was like no other - a complimentary neck and shoulder massage; hot apple cider; a personal meeting with the chef to discuss any dietary requirements and our bags delivered to our room before we even got there. The bedroom was stunning with an amazing view and comforting to know all are exactly the same, so if we are lucky enough to return, we won’t be disappointed wherever we are placed. An amazing turndown service is provided whilst guests are at dinner - hot water bottles placed in the bed; chocolates and a roaring log fire. The food in the evening was amazing - we opted for the Bhutanese menu. The puddings were fantastic, the only problem we had was trying to decided what to choose as they all sounded so good. I have honestly never felt so relaxed in a hotel before and only wish we could have stayed an extra few nights. If you are planning on staying here make sure you have time to spend sitting on the terrace in front of the fires - the staff will bring you blankets; hot water bottles; heated neck warmers; hot drinks and cake and with stunning views over the valley, it really doesn’t get much better!
