Perhentian Island Resort

On the positives: Excellent beach with crystal clear water and sand. The resort offers very good food for reasonable price. Polite staff. Negatives: The running water is dirty which can be sort of expected since it’s an island but overall we found the cleaning substandard. All the furniture from the sun beds, to chairs to your own bed were highly uncomfortable, we did not have a single night of proper sleep because of that.

The hotel is rather basic, but the sea is spectaculour. Food wise is acceptable but you have the options to walk to the nextdoor resort. They should have provided at least a big floor mat to trap sands right at the front door.

This resort is just wow 🤩, the service are amazing, they are so friendly. And the big words is this island is too much safety.

The beach was nice. Water is blue. Baby sharks, stingrays and turtles can be seen within swimming distance. Staffs were ok. Rooms were a little old and run down and the setup of our room was weird as it’s difficult to navigate in and out of toilet. Breakfast was very limited. Restaurant food was also very limited. There are more options next door at coral view resort.

Pro: This hotel is situated on the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. The location really is incredible and was easily the highlight of the stay. Cons: The food is quite lacking in variety. There are only three hotel restaurants on the island and the menus are all quite similar, so after a few days it starts to feel very repetitive. The alternative is to get a water taxi across the bay, which costs around 40 ringgit per person. Unfortunately, I also had some issues with the rooms and cleanliness. There was mould growing inside the deposit safe and staining on the bedding. The bathroom also had a sewage smell. I understand that things like this can occasionally happen, especially in a remote location, but the smell remained for around two days before it was resolved. In my second room during the trip, the air conditioner was loose and shaking against the wall. I contacted the hotel several times over the course of two days. On the first day I was told that it had been fixed, but when I returned to the room it had not been fixed at all. The receptionist I spoke to at that point was also quite curt and made me feel as though I was disturbing her by raising the issue. The receptionist I dealt with the following day was completely different and was amazing. She genuinely tried her best to resolve the problem and I really appreciated her help. Eventually, I moved rooms on the afternoon of the second day. I paid approximately 15,000 yuan for this trip. I completely understand that Perhentian is a remote island and I was not expecting luxury or everything to be perfect. However, for that price I do think it is reasonable to expect basic standards such as a clean room, a properly functioning air conditioner and a little more variety in the food. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, which makes the problems with the hotel even more disappointing.

Unfortunately, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life. 1st thing, I paid 1,400 euros + 60 euros to get a baby cot for 5 nights. At that price, you expect to have a quality room. Ants, cockroaches, humidity, filth. We got it all during our stay. I have never seen such a dirty room, sheets this dirty, or blankets this dirty. The bathroom was full of ants and lizards. The windows were broken so everything could get inside. I have paid for 5-star hotels in Malaysia that were much cheaper than this hotel, and the quality was actually there. The food leaves a lot to be desired and it is super expensive compared to the rest of the surrounding hotels. A 3-star hotel at that price—never again. We were disgusted with the Perhentian Islands, thank you. I would not recommend your hotel to anyone.

Great location. Right next to the beautiful beach and Turtle point. Good food though bit on expensive side but worth the money.

I am staying at Cabin room for two nights  This room is no TV but with small fridge in it 😊 Air-Cond is working well  Bathroom attached  Found some hair leftover in the bed😅
