Our trip began with two nights at Hotel de Russie in June. It was our first visit to Rome, and looking back, it is difficult to imagine a better introduction to the city. The location is extraordinary. Step outside and you are immediately surrounded by the energy of Rome; step back inside and everything changes. There is a sense of calm and privacy that feels almost unexpected in such a central location. And then there is the garden. It became one of my favorite memories of the hotel. After hours spent discovering Rome for the first time, returning to that beautiful green space felt like finding a little retreat hidden in the middle of the city. Breakfast, a quiet moment during the day, or a drink in the evening — somehow the garden made you forget, for a moment, that Rome was just outside. Hotel de Russie has elegance without stiffness. The rooms, interiors and public spaces are beautiful, but what stayed with us even more was how comfortable the hotel made us feel. The service throughout was polished, warm and attentive. Everything seemed to happen naturally and effortlessly, without unnecessary formality. And a special salute to the concierge team. There really is something about Italians and concierge service! After only two nights, they remembered us by name and made every interaction feel genuinely personal. Perhaps the best example of their hospitality came after we had already left. We had checked out, left Rome and were in Capri when we needed their help. The concierge team at Hotel de Russie was still there for us. The fact that we were no longer staying at the hotel didn’t seem to matter — they simply helped. That, to me, says more about genuine hospitality than anything they could have done while we were staying there. Those first two nights set the tone beautifully for what followed. We left Hotel de Russie for Capri already feeling that our trip had begun on exactly the right note. We came to discover Rome, and Hotel de Russie became part of what we loved about it.

Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at Le Jardin de Russie was truly unforgettable. ❤️ We were delighted to mark this special milestone in the enchanting garden of this elegant restaurant in the heart of Rome. The food was wonderful, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, attentive, and welcoming. Their thoughtful service made our celebration even more special and created a beautiful memory we will cherish forever. A truly magical place for a very special occasion.

The Hotel de Russie is a hotel we have been staying at in Rome since 2002. It feels like home. We were staying there in 2020 when COVID broke out and we had to head home. The staff then was incredible and they still are. It's located just below the Pincian Hill and next to the Piazza del Popolo with its obelisk and Santa Maria del Popolo which is home to Caravaggio's Conversion of St. Paul and Martyrdom of St. Peter, awesome works next door! It's a great walk from there to the Spanish Steps or Via Condotti or the center of the city. We stayed in a suite, one we had stayed in before, overlooking the garden which was designed at the beginning of the 19th Century by Giuseppe Valadier and completely restored in 2020. A wonder. The main Restaurant is located in the garden. There Mario is the host of hosts. This time we had some organizing to do and some issues with items we tried to ship from the United States. The concierge staff was incredible. I keep using that word but I can't think of a better. Marina and Salvatore were tireless as were others whose names I don't recall. Also, Giuseppe who is in charge of the running of the building is tireless and also kind. It's a great place to stay in Rome. No, you don't have the view of the city, but that view is just a few minutes walk away. And, the people who staff the Hotel de Russie will do all they can to make your stay exceptional.

Our family stayed at Hotel de Russie for three nights during our vacation in Italy, and it was a fantastic way to begin our trip. The location is excellent, allowing us to easily explore Rome while still enjoying a peaceful retreat at the end of each day. The hotel is beautiful, the gardens are stunning, and our room was comfortable, quiet, and impeccably maintained throughout our stay. What stood out most was the service—every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely committed to making our visit memorable. We would especially like to recognize Mario at Le Jardin, who took exceptional care of our family and made every dining experience feel special. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality left a lasting impression on us and truly enhanced our stay. We have been fortunate to stay at many wonderful hotels over the years, and Hotel de Russie is one we will remember for a long time. We would gladly return on a future visit to Rome and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, welcoming, and truly memorable experience.

We’d certainly come back and recommend highly!

Beautiful room but without view and very expensive. I liked my suite a lot. It was very comfortable with ample clothing storage. We were gifted champagne and treats every night and also a couple little gifts. We had no view to speak of and sadly cigarette butts outside the ledge of our window. I feel like the interior hallways are in need of some TLC. I commented to my husband that it looks like they are leaving them for a last gasp until they remodel. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do a refresh of the hallways soon. The breakfast terrace was lovely. It really was one of the highlights especially when what seemed like the manager came back from vacation in his home town of Torino. He treated us like we were long lost friends and was really a delightful person. The afternoon bar scene was ok. Rome has way too many smokers who are able to smoke at any table outside so that is something one must always deal with. Service was a little slow and drinks were average. We had aperitif's one night there then discovered the rooftop bar in the sister hotel at top of the Spanish Steps. That is not to be missed! There is a substantial tip added to the bill at checkout which they tell you can be removed. They say it quickly and I had to ask again what they meant because I have never had this done before. Since we tip along the way, I had it removed but it left a negative feeling. The hotel we stayed in Venice also tried to do this. I'm sure half the people don't even understand what it is or notice the charge even though it can be very substantial because it is a percentage of the total bill. You have been warned! I'm not sure I would stay here again. The sister hotel had a more youthful vibe but if you are looking for a quiet getaway from busy Rome, this is the spot.

After spending part of the Christmas holidays in Parioli, we returned to our beloved Hotel de Russie to celebrate the grand finale of the festive season. Once again, we were welcomed with all the warmth, effortless elegance, and flawless professionalism that define its iconic name. Staying in the Picasso Suite, we enjoyed one of the most remarkable evenings of our lives amidst the magic of the Roman holidays. And as always, our cherished Stravinskij Bar remains an absolute jewel—a stunning, tranquil sanctuary hidden right in the heart of the city. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for being so impeccably attentive, genuine, and welcoming. You made our holiday season truly unforgettable.
