Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort, Santorini

Vedema is highly recommended, it is great location, we hired a car but there is easy access to buses that go all over the island. We loved our room, which had a constant stream of checks that all was ok. The food was first class, breakfast is outstanding and will set you up for the day. The key feature is the quality of the service, the staff are friendly, attentive and attend to anything very quickly. (For instance we had a leaking fridge, these things happen, the leak was cleaned up in 10 minutes, the fridge was replaced in 30). A great team of staff, go and meet them!

My wife and I just completed an incredible long stay at Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort in Santorini. Spending a longer time at a resort gives you a deep look into its daily operations and tests how the team handles unexpected issues—and Vedema’s team handled ours flawlessly.We originally booked an East-facing suite with a hot tub. The room itself was stunning, immaculate, and featured a massive balcony with totally fulfilled our needs. However, we encountered an external issue: a nearby local property had dogs that barked constantly from 4:00 AM to 6:30 AM every morning. After a couple of disrupted nights with little sleep we raised the issue.When we complained to the hotel manager, Theodore, he was extremely welcoming to our issue and dealt with us professionally and accordingly. Maria was also incredibly professional in her approach; she dealt with us in a highly positive manner and made sure she resolved the situation appropriately. Thanks to their amazing service recovery, we were moved to a spectacular Villa with a private pool. It was South-facing, completely quiet, and offered the most incredible views and breathtaking sunsets. This villa was a magnificent, peaceful oasis that completely transformed the rest of our holiday into a relaxing dream.Beyond the management team, the staff throughout the entire resort are truly fantastic. In particular, Tasos and Sam deserve special recognition for their incredible work ethic. Whether they were working during breakfast or around the pool, they worked incredibly hard, always maintained a professional attitude, and greeted us with a warm smile every single day.Important Notes on Location & Transport:While the traditional village of Megalachori is beautiful and charmingly peaceful, staying in the village does have its drawbacks, and the cost of transport is definitely one of them. Future guests should be aware that due to the village location, you need to arrange transportation to visit anywhere on the island. The hotel does not offer a complimentary transport service, and using the hotel-provided transport gets very expensive. On average, it cost us €100 for a return journey to Fira or Oia, and €80 for a return journey to Kamari Beach [¶].For a high-end luxury property—especially when booking premium suites or villas, or holding Gold Elite status and above—complimentary airport/port transfers or basic shuttle options really should be standard and completely included.A hotel's true character shines through its people and how they handle a problem. Theodore, Maria, Tasos, Sam, and the rest of the team proved that Vedema is world-class. Despite the transport costs, we cannot thank them enough for making our extended stay so memorable. We will definitely be back.

I've been lucky to visit several Luxury Collection properties around the world, and Vedema lives up to the name. The property is gorgeous, sophisticated, with gardens and flowers well maintained and clearly cared for. The villas have comfy design and finishes, and the Olympian Villa (love!!) had a beautiful private pool, patio and modern kitchen. Also love the blue and red doors for other suites, all show individual character and are very well-designed. One could easily spend a full week here enjoying life! Breakfast by the pool was lovely. It wasn't a buffet - you ordered from the menu and everything arrived very quickly. The service was impeccable, and I actually prefer this more tailored approach - and less food waste in general. I have to say as well, the team was excellent. JM at reception was amazing, so welcoming and made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Maria at the Front Desk was incredibly helpful and professional. Irini from Guest Experience was vrey sweet and even drew a little picture for my keepsakes, such a fun and personal touch. Panos from F&B runs a sharp team, and Sam and Vassili, everyone in dining, brings pride and attention to their work. The team genuinely wants every guest to have a great experience and were proud of being at Vedema. It makes a huge difference! I also found the hotel's WhatsApp messaging a real plus. You can learn about events or make bookings, a nice way to stay informed without interruptions. Now Vedema does recognise and respect Marriott status, and I really was blown away by the generous upgrade after getting Suite Nights!! Yes being Lifetime / Ambassador does help, but it also means I have very high standards for hotels -- and Vedema did manage to "wow" me! In fact, regardless of memberships, I can see a consistent high quality of service throughout, and that luxury service is very well done. Thumbs up!! Location wise, no it doesn't have that "view" but I like the location in Megalochori over the main tourist areas in Oia and Fira, and there are many beautiful little gems around the hotel. Also just use GYG for private transfers, it's all nearby. I also had the opportunity to visit its sister property Istoria for black sands beach, but Vedema definitely wins for me! ^_^ I'm just so glad that out of all the hotels in Santorini, I found Vedema and it made my stay truly memorable. Beautiful property, excellent service, serene designs, and run by a team that genuinely cares. I would absolutely stay here again.

A dream! Vedema is truly the essence of Santorini. Located in the picturesque Megalachori you get to experience the island and all its colours and flavours, in a more private way. The resort is beautiful. The gardens, the grand villas, and attention to detail make you feel home away from home. We definitely recommend the wine tasting at its historic canava. Their Vin Santo is something else. Thanks so much to the manager Theodore for your hospitality, to Simon, Vassili and all the team for making our stay a memorable one. Vedema is pure charm and the best of a secret Santorini. We would love to come back again.

I loved this hotel—the service, location, food, and staff were all excellent. My only comment is that I had a bit of trouble opening the door since it isn’t electric; the key kept getting stuck each time I used it. Aside from that small inconvenience, I highly recommend this place.

Stunning hotel! On my second visit was upgraded from a suite to an Olympian Villa. The villas are spacious, beautifully designed and furnished, with a wonderful outdoor Terrace and private pool looking towards the southern shore of the island. The general facilities, including two large outdoor pools, modern and well equipped fitness center, outdoor rooftop restaurant (magical at night) , and flower and vegetation adorned grounds, are gorgeous. It is a little five star village nestled in an authentic living village. The only downside is that if you are coming to Santorini to take photos for your Instagram of yourself and your companion(s) lounging in an infinity pool perched on a cliff, overlooking the iconic caldera view, this is not the correct hotel and you will need to drive 20 to 30 minutes to get yourself there. If however, you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful refuge on Santorini that allows you to stay put, slow down, and access whatever else to the island can offer with a short drive, than this is the place for you. I congratulate the managers on running an incredible show with an incredible staff in a piece of paradise, and hope to return again and again

Vedema was one of the highlights of our time in Santorini. The resort itself is gorgeous, and the pool setup is fantastic—spacious, relaxing, and never crowded, with plenty of room to settle in for the day. The poolside service was excellent, and we loved the unexpected touches, like surprise fruit platters delivered while we lounged. A special thank-you to Maria and to the bartender who made us the most delicious Orange Crushes—I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name! The entire staff made our stay feel special. Tasos and Eri were wonderful at breakfast, as was Sam, who also took great care of us by the pool. Kristos was a fantastic bartender, and George and Vassilis were incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay, as well as our driver Kristos. The resort also made getting around Santorini remarkably easy by arranging cars and taxis for us whenever we needed them. We loved staying in Megalochori—it’s a beautiful, charming village with plenty of places to eat and explore, while still making it easy to visit Thira and Oia. We even happened to be there for a village festival one evening, complete with traditional Greek dancing, which was such a fun and memorable experience. Gavalas Winery's tasting room is definitely worth a stop! Vedema gave us the perfect combination of a beautiful resort, genuinely warm service, and a location that felt like part of the local community. We would absolutely stay again.
