The room I was initially assigned to had a bit of a smell because it was near a livestock farm, but fortunately they changed the room the next day. It is located in a small village, so a rental car is a must. It is a great value hotel and a great place to experience the old, quiet atmosphere of Santorini!

Vedema is a historic property that has been beautifully restored while still offering every luxury you would expect from a world-class resort. What truly sets it apart, though, is the people. The staff delivered some of the kindest hospitality I've ever experienced, and by the end of our stay it honestly felt like we were leaving a friend's home rather than checking out of a hotel. The dining is another highlight. Every restaurant on the property was outstanding—you could easily enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner here for a week without running out of incredible dishes to try. Located in the quieter village of Megalochori, Vedema is perfect for travelers looking to escape the crowds and experience a more authentic side of Santorini. If you're looking for relaxation, exceptional service, and genuine Greek hospitality, I couldn't recommend it more.

Simply amazing from the moment I walked onto the property. Let me begin by saying this hotel is absolutely stunning. The pools, the breathtaking views, the beautiful villas, and the incredible staff all exceeded every expectation. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, Foteini's smile and energy immediately made me feel welcome. She helped plan our entire stay, gave us fantastic local recommendations, and made reservations for us. She treated us like old friends, making sure we experienced the very best Santorini had to offer and always ensuring we had the best tables. She was always available, incredibly thoughtful, and genuinely kind. I never felt like just another hotel guest—I felt like a VIP visiting a friend who knew everyone on the island. I can't thank her enough for making our trip so special. Once we made our way to the pool, Eri took wonderful care of us. She welcomed us as though we were guests in her own home. She was funny, intelligent, engaging, and genuinely kind. She knew exactly which drinks to recommend and never steered us wrong. Every day I looked forward to seeing her because I knew she would have another great recommendation or surprise waiting for us. She made every afternoon by the pool even more enjoyable. One experience you absolutely cannot miss is the wine tasting in the 300-year-old cave with Panos Fotiadis. It was elegant, intimate, and easily one of the highlights of our trip. Panos is an exceptional sommelier with an impressive knowledge of Greek wines. The tasting was expertly presented, and each wine was perfectly paired with delicious local cheeses. The property itself is spectacular, but it is the people who make this place truly extraordinary. Every member of the staff was warm, engaging, intelligent, and sincerely interested in making our stay unforgettable. There were so many employees who went above and beyond that it's impossible to mention them all. I can honestly say I have never experienced a friendlier or more welcoming hotel staff anywhere in the world. If you have the opportunity to stay here, don't worry about planning every detail. Simply arrive, say hello, and let this incredible team take care of the rest. They will make you feel at home from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. I truly love this hotel and cannot wait to return. Brandon Felton

My husband and I capped off a glorious vacation in Greece with a 3 night stay at the Vedema. And it was as glorious as the rest of our trip to Greece! First, I’d like to acknowledge Matthew, the Concierge at the Vedema. He helped curate a memorable experience for us in Santorini. Matthew organized private transfers between the Vedema and all points of interest including Fira, Oia, Akrotiri and a scenic tour of Santorini. Unless you rent a vehicle to drive yourself or take public buses, Santorini is expensive to get around in. For example, a one way Uber or Welcome PickUps trip from the Vedema to Akritori or Thira Port was a whopping 40 euros. Booking a round trip transfer through the Vedema to these places was 50 euros. It is safer and more cost effective to book private transfers through the Vedema. I recommend working with the Vedema (and Matthew, in particular) to curate your Santorini itinerary and arrange private transfers to save yourself time s and some money. The Vedema is charming. The design and layout of the hotel blends nicely into the surrounding medieval village of Megalohori. There are all sorts of nooks and crannies to explore at the Vedema. We stayed in a one bedroom suite on the ground floor. It was spacious with a walk out private terrace. It was not a room with a view but quiet and we had great sleeps on the king bed. The towels in the bathroom were plush. We loved swimming in the main pool in the late afternoon each day. The pool service was top notch, as were the cocktails we sampled while enjoying the pool! Breakfast each morning on the outdoor terrace was nourishing and à la carte. It is served at a slower pace than Canadians may be used to. Service at the breakfast bar was accommodating and pleasant. There were many cats and kittens roaming around the breakfast bar and hotel in general (in fact, all over Santorini there were cats everywhere). Being cat lovers, we didn’t mind them at the Vedema, just know they are very present especially as eating time! Cats and kittens are very present in the village of Megalahori as well. All in all, we had a fantastic visit at the Vedema. Remember to take advantage the concierge service at the Vedema for booking experiences and transfers during your visit to Santorini.

We stayed at Vedema for two nights immediately before and on the day of our wedding in June 2026. This was not a standard holiday stay. I booked the hotel over a year in advance specifically because I wanted somewhere special and stress-free to get ready on the morning of my wedding. The stay cost over €1,100 for two nights, and throughout the year leading up to our arrival I had been in regular communication with the hotel regarding some very simple requests. These included providing a few extra chairs in the room for my bridal party, hair and makeup artists, and family members, as well as arranging coffee and mimosas for four people at 7:30am on the wedding morning before the rest of the bridal party arrived. Every request was acknowledged and I was repeatedly assured that everything would be arranged. On the day of arrival, we were told we could check in early at 2pm rather than 3pm, which we appreciated. However, when we arrived, our room was not ready and we had to wait. Not a huge issue in itself, but it was the first sign that things were not running smoothly. Once we entered the room, we discovered that it had not been cleaned properly. The bathroom bin still contained another guest's used sanitary products. Finding someone else's used period products in a supposedly five-star hotel room is unpleasant under any circumstances, but particularly disappointing given the premium price point. Service throughout the stay was noticeably slow. On our first afternoon, it took around 45 minutes to receive a simple iced coffee by the pool, despite the hotel being quiet. The real problems began on the morning of my wedding. At 7:30am, none of the arrangements that had been discussed for over a year had been put in place. There were no additional chairs, no coffee and no mimosas. We contacted reception via WhatsApp (their preferred method) and repeatedly followed up. We also sent multiple members of the bridal party downstairs to ask for assistance. Two and a half hours later, nothing had been been resolved. As the bride, I spent the entire morning sitting on the floor while having my hair and makeup done. We made repeated requests both in person and via WhatsApp. Eventually I had to go to reception myself, wearing my dressing gown and slippers, to explain that it was my wedding day and that I had been sitting on the floor for over two hours because the hotel had failed to provide the chairs they had repeatedly promised. What was most disappointing was that staff openly admitted that they had not read the email correspondence regarding my requests. In other words, all the planning and communication that had taken place over the previous year had effectively been ignored. The service issues continued throughout the morning. Breakfast took approximately an hour and a half to arrive. We were told the hotel was not particularly busy. We repeatedly requested that empty plates be removed from the room ahead of photographs being taken, but despite s

This hotel is amazing. The location is perfect in a quiet village away from the main tourist spot’s but the village has enough going on to be ideal. From the minute we arrived until the time we left, the staff were magnificent and couldn’t do enough for us. All of the rooms are suites and are very well finished. The two pools and the jacuzzi are perfect for cooling off. As for the food, it ticks every box. A fabulous range of excellent options at breakfast, great lunches at the poolside bar, and a wonderful dining experience at the rooftop restaurant for dinner. All in all just perfect 😀

We were very disappointed by our experience at Vedema Hotel in Santorini, particularly as we were staying there on our honeymoon. During our stay, our room was left unlocked by hotel staff on several occasions. On our first night, we went to dinner at the hotel and returned to find our room unlocked. We also noticed that someone had entered the room, as a chocolate tart that had been left as a hotel amenity was missing when we returned. Later in our stay, we discovered that a very sentimental piece of jewellery—a gold necklace given to me by my husband on our wedding day—was missing. As newlyweds on our honeymoon, this was especially distressing and upsetting. We reported the matter to the hotel immediately. To their credit, the hotel said they conducted an investigation and advised us that the next step would be to report it to the police. Unfortunately, we were due to leave early the following morning and were unable to do so before departing. While the hotel itself is beautiful, the repeated failure to secure our room left us feeling extremely concerned about the safety of our belongings. The loss of such a sentimental item overshadowed what should have been a very special trip, and what was meant to be a memorable honeymoon ended on a deeply disappointing note.
