I stayed at the Colonel Spencer Inn around the holidays with my partner and really enjoyed the atmosphere! It was cozy and comfortable, and the location is close to the nearby town, some restaurants, and a great little restaurant (Covered Bridge). The room was clean and the bed comfy, and the area was quiet at night. Innkeepers were friendly and breakfast was great (loved the pancakes). Will come stay again in the fall to see the foliage!

BEWARE: New, inexperienced inn owners should have had EVERYTHING spotless ready for their grand reopening. Please keep in mind, the Inn was sold in June, I believe, with years worth of very positive reviews for the FORMER owner which we relied on for our booking decision. When we arrived, no one was at the Inn to greet us and there was a handwritten old note on the door, looking like it had been there for years which had a code on it; no suggestion on what it was for. We think, out of courtesy, the new owners should have left a note or at least texted us about the delay. No other cars were in the parking area. We waited outside for half an hour until the owner finally arrived. Upon entry, a vase of old wilted flowers sat neglected in its old water, a sign of things to come. We were escorted upstairs to the twin room we reserved. Thankfully the air conditioner was on for us. My husband decided to take a shower to freshen up and, much to his dismay, it didn't work! The toilet wasn't flushing well and the wallpaper was peeling. The old toiletries looked like they were from the previous owner. The beds were high off the ground with very bouncy mattresses. The overall room had a worn out, dated feel to it, certainly not fresh. People want to have a fresh and inviting experience when they travel. Sadly, this just wasn't it. We did enjoy conversing with the pleasant new owners who had much to say about the house's interesting history. Their dog was adorable! We were disappointed with the stay, having to pay such a high price for an inadequate room. I believe this review is a very honest one. Hopefully, the Inn will regain its former luster and historic charm in the future.

The stay at the Inn was very charming, it was Victorian style ho.e that was well kept but it was still 100 yrs old, the hist was very nice and helpful, I stayed three nights had a home cooked breakfast every morning and very restful sleep at night.. it was a pleasant change from commercial hotels.

The comfort of a nice clean home and bedroom made my stay fabulous. Breakfast was different every morning and delicious. I could smell the food cooking. Each morning started with a delicious fresh, fruit cup. Outdoors is a fire pit with a number of chairs and a corn hole game, Vacationing in New Hampshire check out the Colonel Spencer Inn. You will leave with a smile.

Growing up in an historic town, we appreciated the special building. Inn Keepers met us at the door, I did call ahead to inform them as to “hopeful” arrival time. Delightful, Inn keeper during the brief call. Outstanding home made breakfast. We loved our stay in this historic building, but more importantly, the Inn Keepers were welcoming, kind, and made us comfortable . We’ll be back for sure!

Gem. Terrific vibe, great service, special breakfasts - baked oatmeal, fritattas, maple hash, puff pancakes, GF waffles (my husband is GF - allergy - and they did not blink, they just took care of us), sausage/breakfast ham/bacon, yogurt parfaits, coffee, snacks, fresh fruit. Historic inn with modern amenities. Tracy and Jim advised on the area - restaurants, sites to see, travel times, etc.
