The location is very convenient, just 5 min walking from subway Shijo Station which filled with department stores, shops and restaurants.  The hotel lobby is a good gathering location with friends which provides coffee and wine.

Staying at the Mimaru chain is not my first time and most Mimaru is very family friendly. Since it was my first time staying in Kyoto I tried this Mimaru Suites Kyoto Shijo, it didn’t disappoint one bit and it is great and very family friendly. I booked a room with 2 bedrooms & 1 tatami area with a small living room which can easily accommodate up to 6 members. The hotel is also located beside the busy streets of Kyoto city. The Hankyu Kyoto Line is just a 5min walk away which is where most of the food and major department stores are located. Would recommend this Mimaru for those who are looking for a decent family stay within the area.

Have stayed twice at mimaru brand in Kyoto. Their locations are usually good - near to bus stops and train stations. Though this branch is within walking distance to shopping malls in Shijo, I personally prefer their Kyoto Central one as it is in a quiet district and the bus services which go to popular areas are less crowded

staff were nice and helpful. There was a kendama game & colouring for the kids, However, the master bedroom smelled quite funky & beds were hard, and caused back pain, which hindering my experience travelling throughout. Bedroom was dark, and not what was advertised. We booked a 2 bedroom and there was No window in one of the bedroom. Overall disappointed with this experience 😔

Great Hotel for family unit, all staff speak fluent English and were always cheerful and helpful. Great location too, very close to tube station .
