We chose this hotel despite all the bad reviews, thinking maybe they’d just had a bad season last year. My husband even said before we booked that a lot of the 5 star reviews looked suspicious. I really wish I had listened to him. This is not a 5 star hotel. Not even close. At best it’s a 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices. From the moment we arrived, it was disappointing. Nobody greeted us, nobody helped with bags, nobody opened doors. Check in was meant to be at 2:30pm and we didn’t get our room until 4:45pm. We had been up since 4am travelling with a baby and small child, and nobody seemed to care. The lobby was full of suitcases and annoyed guests, and the only excuse was that the hotel was fully booked. That’s not the guests’ problem! When we finally got to the room, there was no drinking water and the minibar hadn’t been refilled. This became a theme for the whole stay. Service is basically non-existent. If you want drinking water, you have to queue at the bar. Staff are often rude, uninterested, and act like you’re bothering them by asking for anything. We are a family of four and somehow never had more than two clean towels. The organisation at meal times is another mess. On our very first night, we had to wait over an hour just to get a table for dinner. After travelling all day with a baby and small child, the last thing you want is to be standing around hungry with nowhere to sit. Again, the excuse seemed to be that the hotel was busy, but surely they know how many guests they have booked? This level of disorganisation is just not acceptable for a hotel claiming to be 5 star. Another huge issue was the complete disregard for the do not disturb sign. One night at 10:30pm, with our baby and small child asleep and do not disturb clearly on, they rang the bell saying they were here to fix the air con, which hadn’t worked properly for five days. They didn’t even fix it. The next day at 4:15pm, while our baby was napping and again do not disturb was on, a cleaner unlocked the door and walked straight in with towels. No knock, no apology, just slammed the door loudly while our children were sleeping. I have never experienced anything like this in a so-called 5 star hotel. This is also not a family friendly hotel. There is no proper baby food option and the children’s food is basically tasteless steamed vegetables. Candyland sounds great, but only the water is free. Our son had a milkshake for €15. During the day there is extremely loud music by the beach area with small children in the water, which feels unsafe. The whole hotel is noisy too. Constant tractors, construction noises and chaos mean there is no real chance to relax. Another disappointing thing was how far this hotel is from being eco friendly. There is plastic everywhere. Drinks come with plastic straws individually wrapped in plastic, endless disposable cups, plastic bottles and unnecessary packaging all over the place. For a supposedly luxury resort in 2026, it feels i
