Chongqing Marriott Hotel

The hotel has been open for a while, so it's understandable that some of the facilities are a bit dated. However, overall it's still quite good. It's very convenient for dining and shopping, and offers good value for money.

Hygiene: Probably because the hotel is quite old, there's a distinct smell of aging facilities when you enter the room. Also, I had to wait over half an hour for the ice cream and Americano I ordered (and only got them after I called to chase it up), so their sense of time isn't great. The view is very good and it's quiet. Overall, for a Marriott in China, it's just average. And one last important point, I don't know what the security guard at the entrance is even there for; they never opened the car door for me, whether I was arriving or leaving. Finally, I've attached a few decent landscape photos.

The hotel's location is excellent, and the rooms are all on higher floors with great night views, which should have made for a very pleasant stay. However, around 7 PM on August 29th, I was interrogated and treated with discrimination by the front desk staff in the hotel elevator. First, the hotel elevators require a room card to operate. Our group of six or seven people had already entered the elevator, pressed our floor, and as the doors were closing, the hotel lobby manager reached out and stopped the closing doors. He questioned us about where we were going. Even after we explained we were returning to our rooms, he didn't lower his hand until we showed him our room cards, only then did he let us go back to our rooms. I immediately communicated with the hotel about this incident, and they informed me it was a normal operational procedure. But why were other guests not questioned? Only we were interrogated, which means it's not a communication issue, it's discrimination! It's gender discrimination and group discrimination. Furthermore, this behavior violates consumers' basic right to fair transaction. I suggest the hotel strengthens its training on consumer protection laws. During the communication, the hotel claimed that because we brought a paper item measuring 0.2m x 0.5m back to the hotel, and hotel regulations state such items are not allowed, they specifically came to confirm. May I ask which Marriott group policy explicitly states this? Or which hotel policy explicitly states this? Or was it just the lobby manager's personal behavior?? After reporting this discrimination issue at the front desk, I was told that the resolution would be communicated within 2 days. Today is already the 3rd day, and I have still not received an explanation/apology from the hotel regarding the gender and group discrimination issue. I have only received a comforting response from Ctrip's customer service regarding this matter. The hotel is great, but the service team's disrespect towards young female customers is concerning. I hope other women consider this carefully before choosing this hotel.

Miss Lana was professional and genuine, making our stay feel incredibly warm. The hotel's design is simple yet stylish, with complete facilities and convenient transportation. The overall atmosphere is quiet and elegant, with comprehensive amenities that balance efficiency and comfort. Highly recommended.

The bathroom door wouldn't close, which was quite awkward since I was sharing a twin room with a friend. The hotel's air conditioning definitely hadn't been cleaned; I sneezed all night, and my friend, who has allergic rhinitis, even got a nosebleed. The hotel breakfast was also terrible. We had some noodles, and the chicken giblets didn't seem fresh. Both of us ended up with an upset stomach. Overall, a very poor experience! I don't recommend staying here.

The view is great. It would be even better if breakfast was included. It's a shame the minibar was empty; those few drinks aren't worth much anyway, they should just be given to guests as a complimentary gesture.

Was drawn in by the rooftop and wasn't disappointed. While the hotel isn't the newest, it's a big-name brand after all, and the service was excellent.

I chose this hotel because of the brand, even though there were many newer options available. However, the decor is over 10 years old, and it definitely shows its age. The facilities are quite dated; there's no smart toilet, and the room's ventilation system is poor. When someone used the restroom, the smell permeated the entire room! The bathroom glass wasn't clean, and neither was the carpet. The front desk staff's attitude was okay, but their responses to questions were a bit stiff. They didn't proactively ask if we needed children's amenities, even seeing we had a child, and they didn't try to place rooms from the same booking together, which was very unthoughtful. This level of service doesn't match the brand! The breakfast was indeed good, with many choices and high-quality dishes. Aside from breakfast, there's nothing else appealing about this hotel; in fact, it was quite disappointing.
