This was my second trip to the Maldives, and I chose this resort because I heard there were lots of fish and great snorkeling. After 7 days and 6 nights, I can confirm the snorkeling was indeed fantastic. I'm not a strong swimmer, but there were so many fish right near the shore, and not just small ones. It was my first time seeing stonefish, moray eels, and reef sharks. They were every color imaginable, truly a sight to behold. Plus, since it was May, the southwest wind was blowing, and the reef channel was on the northeast side, so the current wasn't too strong.
Even with a 30km wind, you could swim quite far out. The rooms were a bit old but very tidy and clean. The food was a pleasant surprise. Dinner was delicious, and the desserts were tasty. The curry was excellent, and one night we had Chinese duck that was even better than duck in Hong Kong. The fish sashimi was okay, but they did overcook the fish. However, the last resort I stayed at also overcooked their fish until it was dry. For a 4-star resort at this price point, I think it's incredibly good value. Where else can you find a place for around 1,200 per person per day? The service staff were all male. I had heard before that their service wasn't great. At the restaurant, they'd tell you where to sit without giving you a choice, and they were slow to clear plates. But I didn't let it bother me. Some of them were still very friendly and helpful. The pool water quality wasn't good, so forget about swimming in fresh water. The airport transfers were unassisted, which could be tricky for first-timers. The seaplane journey was the best part – a quick 30-minute ride, being the first stop on the way there and the last on the way back. The seaplane wasn't cheap but acceptable because of the proximity. I have no regrets about going again; it was all for the snorkeling. Full of wonderful memories. If you're looking to relax at a resort, don't go; but if you want to snorkel and see fish, then this is the place.
