Verbena Chiangmai

I booked this for a friend because they decided a bit late, and the hotel we were staying at was already fully booked. So, I found another relatively more affordable one nearby. However, the stay wasn't great. The front desk staff was okay, but I didn't see anyone else. The location was convenient, but everything else was terrible. The bedsheets were gray and looked like they hadn't been changed between guests. The air conditioner blew directly onto my head while sleeping, and even at 16°C with maximum fan, it still felt hot, and I woke up sweating. There was a moldy small table, faucets covered in limescale, no breakfast, frayed and worn-out towels, and a deformed mattress. The overall experience was very poor. Furthermore, the hotel's swimming pool was on the first floor but wasn't open to everyone. It seemed only available to those who booked suites or some other highest-level room type. This part was strange and I didn't quite understand it. When I asked the staff, they just said 'sorry, you cannot use it.' 👽 I recommend that anyone considering this hotel avoid it. There are better options at the same price point. I paid over 400 for this hotel, which was worse than the one I stayed at a few days later for less than 300.

I really love this hotel!! I stayed for 3 nights in a row, and the location is great. There are many massage places and delicious food nearby. It's also very convenient to take a taxi to explore the surrounding areas. A 7-Eleven is just a few minutes' walk away. I especially enjoyed the balcony in the room; it was so comfortable to sit outside. The hotel staff were all very gentle and patient, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Excellent value for money!!

Great location, very convenient for getting around. However, the hygiene was terrible. I felt itchy and uncomfortable after sleeping. Also, the soundproofing was awful; even a slightly raised voice could be heard by neighbors.

The service was great, and the location was good too. However, the cleanliness could definitely be improved. There were a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling, and the bathrobe hanger was covered in dust. There weren't enough hooks in the bathroom, and the shower drain was slow. Overall, I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

The duvet was grimy and sticky. The bathroom had a strong odor, and I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.

The location was perfect for exploring Nimman. It wasn't far from the airport, and even though we arrived late, the area was well-lit, so we could easily grab a quick dinner before heading back. Having a supermarket and convenience stores nearby was also a big plus. Being tucked away in an alley with other hotels, it was quiet without feeling unsafe. The bedding and bathroom were both clean, and we didn't encounter any issues using them. However, I'd recommend using a shower filter. I noticed the filter got dirty quite quickly, and the water pressure was weak. Even when the hot water was working well, the low pressure meant it took a bit longer to shower. The front desk staff were friendly, and it was great to have free snacks and water available on the first floor. If I visit Chiang Mai again, I'd likely stay at this hotel, and I'd recommend it to others looking for a great value-for-money option.
