Tanjung Rhu Resort, Langkawi

This hotel really exceeded my expectations! First off, the environment is super natural and wild. We saw so many lizards on the lawn, digging into their holes, plus squirrels, monkeys, and geckos – it was so much fun! Then there's the room itself; it's quite spacious with a balcony. Besides the main bed, there's also a sofa bed, which my child absolutely loved. We stayed for two nights. The hotel has a real resort vibe, and the beach is practically deserted, making it incredibly relaxing to enjoy the sea breeze in the evening. As for breakfast, it wasn't as bad as some reviews suggested; we thought it was pretty good with a decent variety. We tried the Eggs Benedict and omelette from their specialty egg station, and both were delicious. It's true there aren't many restaurants or shops nearby, so we stocked up on supplies at a convenience store on the way. We had dinner at the hotel, and the prices were actually quite reasonable. I'd definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Langkawi!

The hotel's private beach was very clean and quiet. However, our family room had multiple patched-up water leaks on the ceiling, and the wallpaper was damp and peeling. The most concerning issue was a large clump above the headboard, at the junction of the ceiling and wall, which occasionally dropped small particles onto the bed. The hotel promptly addressed it, explaining it was a termite nest. They were very apologetic and offered a complimentary dinner. Still, it was quite worrying for a family traveling with children. Most of our meals were at the Sands restaurant, which had quite a few flies. We had to constantly swat them away during our meals. Hygiene definitely needs improvement. Most of the staff were friendly. Overall, the experience was okay, but many aspects could be better.

The scenery is great, but it's very weather-dependent. It's beautiful on a sunny day, but quite dull and gray when it's cloudy. The hotel's decor is a bit rough, but the interior is decent, and the cleanliness and service are both fine. The only downside is that the breakfast was a bit unappetizing.

The accommodation was very comfortable with beautiful and calming views. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The overall ambiance of the hotel also felt premium and satisfying. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. For breakfast, the food options were quite limited, and the same menu was repeated daily. The taste of the food also didn't quite suit our palate, such as the nasi lemak with overly sweet sambal and soup that lacked flavor and ingredients. We hope the hotel can improve the variety and quality of the food, especially for a high-standard hotel like Four Seasons. Additionally, the bath towels were rather coarse and uncomfortable to use. For a five-star hotel, prioritizing softer and higher-quality towels should be a given, as it significantly impacts guest comfort. Overall, the stay was still good, but some aspects need improvement to truly meet luxury hotel standards.

The hotel has been open for over a decade, and you can definitely see the age in its facilities, like the electrical outlets and furniture, although they are still well-maintained. There are also instances where some staff members treat Western guests differently from Asian guests.

The hotel is very quiet with beautiful scenery, but dining options nearby are inconvenient, and there are limited choices for dining within the hotel. It's best to rent a car if you're staying here. Although the hotel is a bit old, it's well-maintained, the bedding is comfortable, and rooms are cleaned promptly every day. The only downsides are the low water pressure in the shower and the air conditioning not being adjustable. One of the two rooms we booked was a bit warm.
