This is definitely a recommended experience for those who enjoy onsen. Everything including room, staff, food and baths are top-notch.

I can’t say enough good things about this ryokan. From the minute you pull into the parking lot, till the minute you drive away you are given excellent service. The ryokan is quiet and serene, you barely see anyone and all of the bathes were available each time we wanted to go to one. The acorn cottage was one of my favorites spaces to relax and enjoy the serenity and calmness that this beautiful ryokan offers.

Transportation: easiest with a 50-min taxi ride from Sendai airport unless int’l traveler wants to transfer via trains/buses. Nearest bus stop/little township is 遠刈田温泉 (13-min by foot to the Inn). Key feature is open air onsens in forestry — this is why I chose to stay. Delightful breakfast and dinner (during dinner, there are all-inclusive drinks menu + additional charge ones). I enjoyed the 2nd night’s beef/daikon pot in particular. There are hearth side afternoon refreshment, happy hour beer, post-dinner snack that you will be kept fed warmly. The aircon in Buna room would blow directly on the head so the fan blade should be adjusted. Staff English speaking capability varies but they made every effort in solving problems. Little hiccup after checking out that the bus time table the Inn indicated was outdated, but I still managed to change my route in the fly, which is the beauty traveling in Japan.

The most serene, peaceful and relaxing experience, after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. We recently had 2 nights here and will be back in Winter to experience the beauty in a different season. Like Bali, the staff and the hospitality they offer, the care they take with everything is incredible.

Located in the Miyagi Prefecture, this local onzen is home to the most relaxing experience with the unique private outdoor Onsen and in-door Onzen. Especially in winter, the Onzen is really charming and picturesque. The convenient way is to use hotel taxi from Shiroshizao station (2.30 hours from Ueno). Staffs are attentive. Breakfast and dinner are in private area. Truly great experience, worth for Instagram photos and your retreat.
