Having just returned home, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on what made our stay at Niyama so special. The obvious answer would be the stunning beaches, crystal-clear water, luxurious villas and incredible marine life. They are all exactly as beautiful as the photographs suggest. But that isn't why this has become the best holiday our family has ever experienced. The real reason is the people. Over the years we've been fortunate enough to stay in many luxury hotels around the world, and whilst beautiful surroundings can be replicated, genuine hospitality cannot. Niyama has created something very rare—a culture where every single member of staff seems genuinely happy, proud of what they do and determined to make every guest feel special. From the moment we stepped off the seaplane and were greeted by smiling staff dressed in crisp white uniforms carrying their iconic red umbrellas, we knew this was going to be somewhere different. The welcome felt sincere rather than rehearsed, and that feeling never disappeared throughout our stay. Travelling as a family with children of different ages can often mean compromises, but somehow everyone found their own perfect holiday. Whether it was snorkelling on the house reef, relaxing by the pool, enjoying the outstanding restaurants, surfing, jet skiing, enjoying the many boat excursions or simply walking around two beautifully maintained islands, there was always something to enjoy. Our villa was immaculate throughout our stay. Housekeeping was exceptional without ever feeling intrusive, and every area of the resort was maintained to an incredibly high standard. The attention to detail was remarkable. The dining deserves special mention. Every meal felt like an occasion, with an excellent variety of restaurants and consistently high-quality food. Nothing ever felt rushed, and the service struck that perfect balance between being attentive and allowing you to relax. One evening we had the pleasure of meeting Laurent, the Resort Manager, during the beach cocktail reception. Listening to him speak about his vision for Niyama, his passion for continually improving the resort and, perhaps most importantly, his obvious pride in his team, explained so much about the experience we had enjoyed all week. Leadership sets the tone for any organisation, and the culture at Niyama is clearly no accident. What impressed us most was that every interaction felt genuine. Whether it was someone greeting us by name, asking about our day or quietly anticipating what we needed before we even asked, nothing felt scripted. It simply felt natural. Luxury isn't just beautiful accommodation or spectacular scenery. It's how a place makes you feel. Niyama made us feel welcome, relaxed and genuinely cared for from beginning to end. We left with wonderful photographs, unforgettable memories and, perhaps most importantly, a desire to return. That, for me, is the mark of a truly exceptional resort. Thank you to Laurent and e
