Pier Blue Inn Old Saybrook - Essex

Like most of the hotels in Ct. Old, but this clean and well maintained. I recommend it if you travel to This Ct shore area

Pics are not what the rooms look like. Worn and tired. Mildew or mold in bathroom ceiling and upper wall. Way overpriced for the establishment and amenities. Asked for refund when arrived said not what expected and said couldn't do that due to third party booking. When I woke up in am saw small black bug on side of sheet and advised clerk checking out. He insists the rooms are clean and not a bedbug. Google search suggests might be. Left bedclothes behind just in case and luggage will stay in garage when get home. Can't chance it. Said manager will look at room and call me, no call yet to confirm or deny type of bug. Your call whether to stay there or not, me never again.

We used the place as a crash pad - easy to get to from the marina and close to "the main *****" . We did not have a car and it was a holiday weekend.

The mold was seen visible in the bathroom and the floors were not clean. Old furniture and asked for a rebate to no avail. Was told the property was updated. Beds are old and furniture is not new. TV has very few stations. Was not satisfied at all.

Wonderful staff. Property very aged, no amenities, pillows flat, bedded aged but the bed was comfortable

The heater in our first room blew cold air and we had to have our room changed. The second room heating worked but the refrigerator would not close so we had to keep it closed by pushing a chair against the door to keep it shut and not have our food spoiled. At 7:30 the following morning no one was in the office and responded when we pushed the door bell. We left the keys in the key drop box outside and where unable to report the broken refrigerator to management. The two staff we met were cordial but that does not make up for the conditions mentioned above.

The property was very nicely maintained and clean but spartan on amenities. Don’t forget to bring a charger, no breakfast but there are several restaurants in the area. Front desk hours are limited.

We have been coming here for years and it is the best it’s ever been! Staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms have been renovated and clean.

Strong musty/moldy smell in the room. Bed sheets were stained. Ice machine out of order. Property is definitely in a declined state. The staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would not recommend
