Hotel Schloss Mittersill

Great place to stay, a castle which has been converted and modernised into a decent hotel with wonderful views of the mountains. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. Convenient for the Krimml waterfalls and Zell am See. We've stayed there several times and the only disadvantage is that like most Austrian hotels there's no aircon. We recommend the rooms in the new wing.

Wonderful Stay Wonderful stay at the Schloss! Rooms are very clean with a ton of character. Parking was easy. Staff was very helpful. We loved the spa area with the sauna and pool. And we had two excellent breakfasts and two excellent dinners at their on site restaurant. Not to be missed!

My family and I had a magical 4 night stay at Schloss Mittersill over Christmas. We loved our experience and we did not want to leave. The castle is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking 360 degree views. There are so many fun passageways and fun places to explore. It is almost maze-like inside so you can have fun just walking around. The staff was amazing, especially Daniel. They were helpful, respectful and worked very hard to provide a wonderful experience for guests. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire castle, not a dust bunny to be found! We had two adjoining rooms with our 3 children which was perfect for family time while having some privacy. Each room had a balcony and lots of great big windows to take in the view of the mountains and the valley below. One of the highlights was the food! The 5 course dinner was exceptional every night. My husband is not easily impressed with higher-end restaurants and he could not stop raving about the food. The chef is very talented and created beautiful and creative dishes. At dinner we also appreciated that there was a child's menu and a la carte options if desired. Additionally, there were reasonably priced bottles of wine to add to dinner. For day time activities we highly recommend heading to nearby Bramberg am Wildkogel for Tobogganing. It was an unforgettable family experience. Also, if you are a skier you have to spend a couple days at Kitzbuel. The castle provides transportation to and from the gondola at Kitzbuel which was very helpful. The only negative was that the castle is a bit short staffed. This meant that one of the nights (Christmas Eve) dinner service was very slow. The food was excellent but it took a long time to get food. Service the other 3 nights was much better and we got to eat in the "Glass House", which we loved. For breakfast the staff also seemed a bit overwhelmed. I hope that management can solve this problem because the people, food, location and everything else is so wonderful and charming. Also, keep in mind that you are in a building that is almost 900 years old. So, the water pressure isn't great but that was a very minor inconvenience for us.

Thank you for an opportunity to speak about the exceptional experience we had at the Mitterstill Castle. For my wife’s birthday we decided to enjoy 2 wonderful nights at the castle spa. Our first impression was a warm welcome from Alex at reception who ensured our stay was the highest quality. Alex also provides a comprehensive history of the castle making the stay even more authentic. The room was wonderful with wood beamed ceilings, period furniture and a spectacular balcony view. The dining room staff made us feel like family during every meal. Since we are vegetarians, the hotel made sure we had delicious meal selections. There was a nice selection for the spa including an outdoor sauna. The outdoor pool was at perfect temperature and there was plenty of space to sun with magnificent mountain views. The highlight of our stay was how the staff surprised my wife with a panoramic patio seat, decorated table, card and cake for her birthday. This was a vacation trip we will never forget and continue talking about. We will definitely return making Mitterstill Castle an annual vacation stop and recommend this elegant location to friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful lifetime experience.

This hotel is a journey back in time that is breathtaking in the way it assaults your senses. The staff the food the accommodation is all overly impressive. The history, the location, and the modern cons, amazing accommodation, all combine for a wonderful holiday experience. Make sure you request the private tour for the “Castle Secrets” - fascinating journey back in time. The meals were brilliant, the staff exceptional, and you felt that it was a privilege to be there. The heated outdoor pool was a delight. We will certainly spend more time here when we next visit.

Come for the spectacular scenery, stay for the exquisite dining experience. We enjoy Schloss Mittersill in any season (many visits since 2016). Each room has unique views, the skiing is easy, convenient, and superb and the summer hiking trails are majestic. The staff are always welcoming. They all take pride in this 12th Century Castle. We always look forward to our next visit!

I liked everything about the castle. The history, view, location to evertything, food menus, staff. The stay was just perfect.

Schloss Mittersill is a dramatic property with an interesting history. The views from high on the hill are fantastic. The staff was terrific and even provided my wife an I a private terrace dining room with 360 degree views of the mountains for our anniversary celebration.
