Sotetsu Grand Fresa Kumamoto

I booked a twin room and requested a bed rail when making the reservation. When I got to the room, the bed rail was already set up, which was great. Both beds can be moved together, which is very child-friendly. The hotel is just around the corner from the Kamitori shopping street, so the location is excellent. It's only a 3-minute walk from the shopping street. After a day of exploring, you can continue shopping at the nearby drugstores in the evening. The hotel reception offers some basic toiletries, coffee, etc., for self-service. They even have sunscreen, cooling wet wipes, and face masks, which is a big plus. The breakfast is quite simple, with Kumamoto ramen broth that can be used for ramen or rice porridge. Shortly after leaving Kumamoto, a major earthquake struck. I hope everyone is safe and well. This hotel is super convenient! From Kumamoto Station, you just take the 45A tram for 8 stops and then it's about a 350-meter walk. It's located in a bustling commercial area and is also around 350 meters from the city bus terminal. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Really great!

Because my bookings were split, my second reservation was for a superior room instead of a deluxe room. However, since it was on a higher floor, the bathroom odor was gone. The room was slightly smaller than the deluxe, but still acceptable. So, I'd recommend trying to get a high-floor room if possible. The parking lot near the hotel is excellent, costing 1200 yen from 3 PM until 11 AM the next day. You can ask the hotel for a discount coupon. When checking out, insert the parking ticket first to calculate the fee, then insert the discount coupon, and finally pay with cash. The ramen shop across from the hotel is quite good too.

This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Japan! First off, the location is absolutely superb. It's only a 10-minute walk from the Sakuramachi Bus Terminal, and right outside the door is a shopping street that connects to Kamitori and Shimotori. The Sakuramachi Shopping Mall is just 100 meters away. Kumamoto Castle, Josaien, and the Kumamon performance are all within walking distance. The service was excellent, and the front desk had a translation screen, which was incredibly convenient. The room's facilities were also fantastic – well-designed, and the bathroom fan was powerful, so it never felt stuffy. Highly recommend!

The rooms are clean and tidy, the service is friendly, the location is great, dining is convenient, and getting around is easy. Kumamoto has so many beautiful spots perfect for family, friends, or couples' getaways.

The service was enthusiastic and the transportation was convenient. The hotel offers views of Kumamoto Castle. The barber shop downstairs next door does a great job.

Stayed for one night, and considering the price, I was pleasantly surprised by how great the experience was. The location is absolutely fantastic – you can just walk out and immediately start shopping. Besides regular stores, there's also a department store, and I particularly enjoyed the eel rice inside; it was delicious and quite affordable. Definitely worth staying here! 👍
