We stayed 5 nights in a Sunset Water Villa (July 2026) celebrating my wife’s 30th birthday.
The good: The island itself is stunning — long, lush, and the lagoon is postcard-perfect. The Kanifushi Plan inclusions are genuinely generous: daily snorkeling trips, non-motorised watersports, sunset fishing, a sunset cruise, a local island excursion, one spa treatment per stay, and a decent included wine list for in-villa dining. Staff were warm and responsive day to day, and the private beach BBQ and sunset photo sessions gave us some wonderful memories.
The not so good: On our final night we found and killed three cockroaches inside our villa. We had to use most of our own insect repellent just to sleep comfortably, and chose not to have pest control disturb us before an early departure. For a resort at this price point, that experience was distressing for my wife and took real shine off an otherwise lovely trip. We reported it in writing that night and raised it again at checkout — the team apologised politely, but offered no follow-up or gesture of any kind. The lack of service recovery was honestly as disappointing as the issue itself.
Verdict: Gorgeous island and warm day-to-day service, let down by a villa hygiene issue — and by how little the resort did about it when told. For this price bracket, both matter. We’d consider other resorts, but with managed expectations.
