UrCove by HYATT Beijing Forbidden City

After I booked and then read review (it should be the other way round actually) I Was concerned with some bad reviews, so I was considering changing hotel. My wife and I are so grateful we did not change hotel. Urcore Hyatt Forbidden City deserve a better review. Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Young and vibrant and energetic. Especially Mark / Jeff / Belle & other front office staff / the chef lady who cooked noodles at breakfast who is always smiling and welcoming / the housekeeping lady …. Everybody. All very friendly and helpful. There is also laundry facility which is helpful. And the best of all, it is non smoking. And to add a special touch, we were invited for half Peking duck dish at the restaurant after we downloaded the WeChat. Well done Urcore Hyatt Forbidden City Beijing. Yes, there was some road construction going on at night. So rooms facing the road may find it a bit noisy. But those are not the hotel’s fault and the staff certainly had made great effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you

Very friendly staff made us feel at home straight away . Gave excellent customer service told us where to go . Would stay there again .?

The say was a lot of fun. The place was clean. The staff were very helpful and try their best to accommodate.

The hotel room had mold in the bathroom and scratches on the wall and the AC was really bad for a windowless room. The staff tried to help but since there weren’t any other rooms available we ended up leaving after one night. I think if you don’t book the windowless room option it would be much better. Also the rooftop is beautiful.

Never been to China before, so choosing a hotel was tough - "Hyatt" in the name was the decision maker. What a disappointment. An old weary hotel (the walls in my room had visible traces of leaks from above, the bathroom door won't close). As it is customary in China, nobody speaks a word of English even in an international hotel chain right in the middle of the city center. To add inconvenience, they put the reception on the 8th floor with only one elevator serving it. Did I forget to tell you that my room didn't have w windows at all? Because it didn't. Apparently, there is some construction work going on now but at least I wasn't bothered by that (room on the 6th floor). The terrace is closed (read the fine print) in case you wanted to spend an evening looking at the Forbidden City. There is no shortage of hotels in this prices range and location in Beijing - find something else.

The first 3 photos are what you see on trip.com app. But the real room that you get will be the old one you see in the following photos. The room light was quite dim even you turned on all the lights bulb in your room. Besides, on my second night, the light bulb at the bedside could not be turn on anymore.

Overall the hotel is good, great location, the room in which we stayed seemed a real chinese home

Very good location next to the forbidden city and shopping streets 8 mins walking, but lacks with cleanliness and room designs depressing.
