Gaudí's Capricho, a small house in harmony with nature, was built between 1883 and 1885 under the direction of Chris Cascante, an architect's assistant from Reus, for the summer residence of a wealthy client, Maximo Diaz de Quijano. The building is one of the few works of Gaudí outside Catalonia.
The building was originally named Villa Quijano, but soon became known as El Capricho due to its vibrant and unique appearance.
