🌳 3 Must-Do Things at Amanohashidate
1️⃣ Climb to the top of "Umbrella Pine Park" for a bird's-eye view of the sandbar
→ Take the cable car to the top (round trip ¥720), and take a "reverse Fuji" composition from the viewpoint overlooking the sea.
→ Hidden spot: The west side of the observation deck at the top of the mountain offers a stunning view of the sandbar and the Aso Sea side-by-side!
2️⃣ Walk barefoot on the "Natural White Sand Beach"
→ Take off your shoes and walk on 2km of pure white sand. The seawater washing over your ankles at high tide is incredibly soothing.
→ Rent a bicycle (¥500/hour) and chase seagulls along the sandbar, feeling the shape of the wind.
3️⃣ Visit "Chieunji Temple" for amulets
→ Vermilion torii gates paired with century-old pine trees; seek amulets for academic success/marriage (from ¥800).

We joined a one-day tour from Kyoto, departing from Kyoto Station at 9:40 AM and returning around 6 PM. The day was incredibly fulfilling. The waters of Amanohashidate were crystal clear, and the Ine Boathouse was ancient and unique. Our tour guide, Cui Haihua, spoke both Chinese and Korean, and provided detailed explanations. The itinerary was well-organized, and the guides made the trip relaxing and enjoyable. Highlights: The cable car and boat ride are a must-try; it's a worthwhile experience.★

The tour guide was very nice and took great care of us. It was a bit of a shame it rained that day, but when we reached the observation deck on the sky bridge, it suddenly started snowing in tiny flakes, which was very exciting for the tourists. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends.★

Our guide Naomi was amazing - knowledgeable and very understandable. We happened to be a very small group (only 10) so we got a lot of personal attention. The drive was smooth and beautiful. We came late November and the leaves were in full bloom. The lift ride was fun and I suggest taking the rope way down. Not scary at all. The boat ride was a trip - buy a bag of seagull food and see what happens. And keep an eye out for the hawks. Just beautiful. We didn’t have much time to walk through the fishing village due to a sudden shower but we all laughed as we ran back to the bus, including Naomi. And she gave us tips for things to do at our next city, Kyoto. Again, she was great!★

This route is beautiful, but the only downside is that it's quite far. It takes about three hours from Osaka and two hours from Kyoto, so a day trip would definitely be a quick tour. Joining a tour group is more convenient, and the ability to get off in both Kyoto and Osaka is a great bonus! I was very satisfied with our guide, Hu Jun. His explanations of the attractions were clear and thorough. He sent us the locations of each attraction the day before and on the day of the tour. He even used WeChat Line to distinguish between groups from different regions. His service was attentive and highly praised!
