Reviews: [Small Group of 9] Kyoto Kifune Shrine + Arashiyama + Sanzenin Temple Day Trip
Guest User2026-07-18
The driver was so kind and helpful! We overslept, and he waited for us for a long time, picking us up directly from Osaka Station. The itinerary was great, though it would have been even better if we had more time to explore each place. Arashiyama was so beautiful, and it was a bit of a shame we didn't have enough time to ride the little train. We'll definitely go again next time.★

Reviews: Kyoto, Japan: Kifune Shrine + Arashiyama + Bamboo Grove Day Trip [Small Group of 9]

Today's tour was a great success. Our guide, Yasuo, arrived early at the Kyoto meeting point to wait for us. His time management and explanations of the sights were excellent throughout the tour; he was clearly an experienced and helpful guide.
We visited Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, and Arashiyama. These are places that are very difficult to visit in one day without a tour, as they are quite far apart. Thankfully, we chose a group tour today, which allowed us to see them all. Overall, today's choice was perfect!★

Reviews: Kyoto Sanzen-in Temple Arashiyama 1-day tour[Train, Bamboo Forest Trail, Tenryu-ji Temple, Togetsukyo Bridge] Fall Foliage Viewing
Guest User2025-07-03
This Arashiyama + Sanzenin itinerary was fantastic! Traveling with kids, the temperature reached nearly 37 degrees Celsius that day, but it was at least 3-4 degrees cooler inside Sanzenin. Sanzenin was lush and green, and many people were taking photos there. Arashiyama was much more crowded than Sanzenin, so I recommend having lunch there; many restaurants only accept cash, so remember to bring cash! For those traveling with young children, it's best to book Arashiyama Scenic Railway tickets in advance. Ask the travel agency's customer service about the most convenient time to book. The round trip by train takes one hour. We even saw people rafting from the train, but we didn't have time. Maybe next time! A special mention goes to our tour guide, Liu Ling; she was incredibly helpful on the train, providing explanations and even taking us to the station before the train departed. On the return trip, she gave the children Arashiyama refrigerator magnets.★

Reviews: Kyoto Day Tour: Arashiyama + Kifune Shrine + Sanzen-in (Osaka/Kyoto Departure | Optional Hotel Pickup | Small Group with Sagano Romantic Train / Private Charter Available)

This Kyoto Day Tour: Arashiyama + Kifune Shrine + Sanzen-in was a fantastic experience overall!
Special thanks to our driver, Li Jie. He was incredibly friendly, communicated well, and provided clear explanations along the way. Within the limited time, he arranged the entire itinerary perfectly, managing the time flawlessly, allowing us to visit several of Kyoto's most worthwhile attractions in one day.
However, I must remind everyone that this tour is more suitable for travelers with some self-reliance. Because you're not with a guide the entire time, you'll need to figure out your own way, keep track of time, and return on time for each meeting. As long as you manage your time well and adhere to the meeting times, the whole trip can be very relaxed.
I personally really liked this approach—someone arranges transportation and the general direction, and once you arrive at the attractions, you have your own time to explore freely.
If it's your first time in Kyoto and you want to visit Arashiyama, Kifune Shrine, and Sanzen-in all at once, I would recommend this Day Tour.
Especially driver Li Jie, he was a huge plus! 👍🇯🇵★

Reviews: Japan Kyoto 1-day tour · 9-person group Sanzen-in · Kifune Shrine · Arashiyama · Sagano train Tenryu-ji
Guest User2026-10-16
This time, I signed up for a Kyoto day trip that included Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, the Arashiyama Scenic Railway, and Tenryu-ji Temple. The overall experience was excellent, and I especially want to commend our driver, Mr. Liu Wei. I was initially worried about the complex mountain roads and the rushed itinerary, but the entire day's journey was very smooth. Mr. Liu Wei's professionalism greatly enhanced the trip.
First and foremost, his driving skills were superb, making the ride very reassuring. The mountain roads leading to Sanzen-in and Kifune Shrine are winding, narrow, and have many inclines and declines, with heavy traffic. Mr. Liu Wei drove smoothly throughout, handling curves and decelerations skillfully. We barely felt any bumps in the car. One of our group of three is prone to motion sickness, but everyone was fine throughout the entire mountain road trip. Whether in city or mountainous areas, his speed control was steady, ensuring complete safety.
Mr. Liu Wei is punctual and reliable, with a strong sense of time. He arrived at the meeting point early in the morning, and the vehicle was ready, so we didn't have to wait. Each attraction confirmed the meeting time with us, and the vehicle was always waiting for us when we returned to the agreed location after each visit. We never had to search for the car. Parking is scarce around Sanzen-in Temple and Kifune Shrine, but the driver was very familiar with the area and knew the locations of nearby parking lots, allowing us to plan our parking in advance and saving us a lot of time searching for spaces. This gave us more time to explore and avoid a rushed, superficial experience.
The vehicle was very well maintained; it was clean and odor-free, the air conditioning was at a comfortable temperature, and the seats were comfortable. After visiting multiple attractions in a day, resting in the car didn't feel oppressive or tiring, effectively relieving the fatigue from walking.
The driver was kind and patient. He patiently answered all our questions about routes and attractions, sharing helpful local travel tips and pointing out the entrances and exits of attractions to help us plan our route. Since we were traveling as a group of three, we had a flexible pace. If we stopped to take photos and were slightly delayed, the driver was very patient and didn't rush us. He was also willing to make short stops for us to take photos, provided road conditions allowed—his service was very thoughtful.
The entire itinerary was seamlessly connected, from Sanzen-in Temple and Kifune Shrine to Arashiyama and Tenryu-ji Temple. The route was well-planned with virtually no unnecessary detours. The Arashiyama Scenic Railway's schedule was also perfectly timed, ensuring we didn't miss our train ride. Traveling with three people already offers a high degree of freedom, and having a professional driver like Mr. Liu Wei significantly enhanced the overall experience.
Compared to other day tours I've participated in before, this itinerary largely matched the platform's description. There were no hidden costs or forced shopping, and the pace was just right. It allowed us to fully appreciate the tranquility of Sanzen-in Temple's gardens and the unique features of Kifune Shrine, as well as enjoy the bamboo groves of Arashiyama and the scenery of Tenryu-ji Temple.
I highly recommend this day tour. If you happen to be assigned to Mr. Liu Wei, it will be an excellent experience. He is steady, meticulous, a professional driver, punctual, and responsible. With him driving the entire way, the journey was much more worry-free. I hope to have the opportunity to meet Mr. Liu Wei again if I book a day tour in Kansai in the future. I highly recommend this Kyoto day tour!
