Reviews: Best Winery with Restaurant and wine tasting from Florence
Guest User2025-10-17
We recently returned from our destination stay at Torciano. This was by far my husband and my trip of a lifetime. Unlike many travelers we met at Torciano’s Hotel Vecchio Asilo, we stayed 9 nights and spent the majority of our time at the winery (aside from day trips to Florence & San Gimignano). We are already planning our return trip in 2026. We started out as tourists and felt we left like members of the family. In what felt like too short a visit, we got to know so many family and staff members who were the primary reason we absolutely loved our trip. Believe it or not, the wine was secondary and the wine is AMAZING. Just to name a few individuals who made our trip special- Alberto, Luciano, Pietro, Lorenzo, Fabrizio, Simone, Amin, Ida, and Mikela. There were more who welcomed us each day and we forgot to get their names. Also, we felt super fortunate to meet Emanuele and Pierluigi of the Giachi family as well, as we were pleasantly surprised when Pierluigi drove us back to the hotel early in our stay! Talk about hands on in the family business and what an honor it was to meet one of the 13 generations of winemakers who is carrying on the family legacy. The wine and food. WOW! Having an extended stay, I think we got to sample almost all the wines produced by Torciano. I can honestly say that we loved almost all of them! What amazed us most was the quality of the wine and minimum sulfites added that we NEVER got a headache and we drank a lot more wine than we care to admit. The superb pairing of wines to food was simply delectable! They even were so accommodating as to switch up the menus so we didn’t get bored with the offerings. As a wanna-be foodie I said I’d hug the chef if I could and they even brought the chef out so I could speak with him!!! The wines, oils, balsamic vinegar etc. are all “must try”! We also enjoyed many of the experiences offered at Torciano and will definitely do them again. We did truffle hunting, a helicopter ride, cooking class and various wine tastings as well as utilized their private drivers to go to Florence and San Gimignano. The hotel was a beautiful, clean, cozy boutique hotel located about a 15 minute walk (or book their shuttle service) to the winery The staff at the hotel were AMAZING and we truly enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the wonderful views outside our room. We will definitely be staying there again too. Our only complaint was the mattress was too hard (and we put that in our feedback). Our advice- spend more than a day and immerse yourselves into the whole experience and take the time to get to know the people behind the amazing wine. You’ll make memories of a lifetime while indulging in the best wine and food you’ve ever had!
Reviews: Visit Best Wineries in Tuscany - Wine Tasting & Tour

Lovely and educational experience. Wines and food were tasty, drive to the tasting room is beautiful, and close to San Gimignano. We are not connoisseurs, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Certainly over delivered for the cost. As soon as we entered the tasting room and saw the lovely set up, I knew that there would be a sales pitch at the end. Wines were quite pricey. We left a generous tip and bowed out without an additional purchase. If this is a challenge for you, be prepared to drop some cabbage. Highly recommend the experience.
Reviews: San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni: Fully Escorted Tour, Lunch & Wine Tasting

We had a great experience on this tour, thanks to our guide Jakopo and driver Raul. Jakopo was polite and very informative, sharing lots of interesting facts about Tuscany throughout the day. He also gave clear instructions about meeting points and times, which helped everything run smoothly. Raul, our driver, was equally professional and ensured we arrived safely at each destination. Our first stop was Monteriggioni, a charming little town where we had about 30 minutes—just enough time to grab a coffee and take in the atmosphere. We then spent around three hours in Siena, which felt like plenty of time to explore the historic streets, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, and pick up a souvenir. After Siena, we stopped at Poggio ai Laghi for a wine tasting experience. We sampled four different wines, two types of balsamic vinegar, and a selection of bread and cold cuts—definitely a highlight of the day. Our final stop was San Gimignano, where we had 1.5 hours. While we enjoyed exploring this beautiful hilltop town, we would have loved a bit more time there, as it felt slightly rushed compared to the earlier stops. Overall, it was a well-organized tour with a good mix of cultural exploration, food, and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the best of Tuscany in a day.
