Pinnerkreuz, located on Pinnerberg Hill on the banks of the Moselle River, is a famous viewpoint for admiring the scenery of Cochem's Old Town and the Moselle Valley. At a high altitude, the summit offers panoramic views of the winding Moselle River, the vineyards lining its banks, and the Old Town of Cochem built into the hillside. The most striking building in the distance is the Reichsburg Cochem, perched atop the hill, creating a truly spectacular vista. The name Pinnerkreuz comes from a local shepherd's legend. It is said that a shepherd fell off a cliff while searching for his lost sheep, and a cross was erected on the hill in his memory, hence the name Pinnerkreuz. The most convenient way to reach Pinnerkreuz is by taking the Cochem Cable Car and then walking to the viewpoint. Hikers can also climb the mountain path from the Old Town of Cochem.
