Swiss-Garden Hotel Melaka

Booked on Trip.com for 150 per night. Had asked for a sea view but I think they don't have any rooms with sea view. Thankfully got a river view. Check in was quick and smooth. Room was nice and cold when we entered and beds were clean. But when repeatedly calling the reception to ask for a prayer mat there was no answer. There were some crumbs on the tables though. It's quite spacious and comfortable in general and I understand this is an old hotel that was renovated but maintainance could really use some work. Sockets are very loose in the rooms. The bathroom needs to be worked on in terms of slight sewage smell in shower area, mold and about to fall off tissue holder and jet shower holder. Soundproofing isnt that great since we were woken up by very loud water sounds from the room besides us once, then a phone ringing, then kids screaming. Elevator is also old and needs work.. hardly stays open and would literally shut on people entering. Other than that location is good and walkable distance to river (15 mins) along with a small mall accessible from hotel lobby (with kfc, subway and seoul garden) for food options and many shops and cafes opp the hotel including 7/11 and a halal lan zhou restaurant. Checkout was done in literally 2 seconds just by handing card over at reception.

Takes about 15-20 mins to walk to jonker street, fully unsheltered but could easily take a grab which is less than 10 mins ride. Front desk service is excellent, very welcoming and professional. Room size is spacious. Cleanliness is ok. Just that the air con running is a little loud. As the hotel is near the praying hall, do expect the praying happen at 6am.

The biggest advantage is the location. It is connected to The Shore Shopping Gallery, overlooks the Melaka River, and the hotel says Jonker Street is around a 15-minute walk away.

The maintenance of the hotel is poor. The headboard is moldy that you don’t want to rest your hair on it. The AC vents are covered in thick layers of black dust. When the AC is turned on, it flows to your bed! I wouldn’t dare to examine the rest detail parts in the bathroom. Sound insulation in this hotel is equal to none. You have kids playing in the corridors and lift waiting area at early morning and yelling guests checking in at 2am. Definitely no alarm needed to wake you up. We stay at the suppose to be the executive floor, not sure about the normal floors. Location wise, as per own hotel receptionist who advised that there is nothing nearby at night to eat. Parking is free at 7&8th floor. You then see local cars without handicap sticker park at handicap slots and some even occupy the whole ***** of motorbike parking lots when there are other empty spots available.
