Shangri-La Guilin

I highly recommend the Shangri-La Hotel Guilin! This well-established five-star hotel, located right on the Li River, offers an absolutely fantastic experience ✨ The hotel boasts an elegant environment with extensive gardens. The back gate provides direct access to the Li River, making it perfect for leisurely strolls and enjoying the scenery. We stayed in a river-view room, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered direct views of the Li River and the karst peaks. Opening the window was like stepping into a Guilin landscape painting, with misty clouds in the morning and absolutely breathtaking views. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service, and check-in was warm and polite. With both indoor and outdoor pools, plus a kids' club, it's absolutely ideal for a vacation with seniors and children. The location is convenient for getting around, with attractions like Elephant Trunk Hill just a short drive away. Choosing this hotel for our trip to Guilin was a very wise decision; it offered a wonderfully relaxed vacation experience. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Guilin!

This veteran five-star hotel offers excellent value for money, perfect for families with kids who aren't too particular, especially considering the hotel's age. The location is great, making food delivery convenient. It has a kids' pool inside and the Li River right outside, which is fantastic for water play in the summer. The buffet restaurant has a good selection, and one morning they even brought warm, fragrant egg tarts to our table for the children – a small gesture that really left a good impression. Any minor inconveniences during our stay were easily overlooked.

I stayed for three days and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Cici was very attentive, anticipating small details even before I mentioned them. Her service felt genuine and not at all over the top, making me feel right at home.

We stayed here once when our child was small, and this return visit was still well worth it. The staff are all very friendly, and the garden leads right out to the Li River.

This stay didn't quite live up to the Shangri-La brand standard. When I returned to the hotel, my room door wouldn't open. The front desk confirmed my key card was working, and a staff member accompanied me upstairs, only to discover a faulty door lock. The entire process took nearly an hour. On the positive side, the duty manager later intervened, arranged for me to relax in the executive lounge, and moved me to a different room, all while being very apologetic and professional. However, I believe the hotel's emergency response could be improved. If the door lock couldn't be fixed quickly, why wasn't a room change offered sooner, instead of making me wait for almost an hour? Additionally, there were noticeable signs of repair or tampering around the faulty door lock, which made me wonder if similar issues had occurred before. I hope the hotel thoroughly inspects all relevant rooms, rather than just fixing the immediate problem. After moving rooms, I also found an insect, possibly a rove beetle, on the pillow. I was too tired to report it at the time. Furthermore, the shower area only had a handheld showerhead and no overhead one. For this price point and brand, the amenities felt a bit lacking. While the duty manager's service was commendable, there's still room for improvement in terms of facility maintenance, emergency response efficiency, room cleanliness, and some of the hardware provisions.

A truly comfortable hotel. From the moment I checked in, everything felt seamless. There's no overly showy service or amenities, but you feel a genuine sense of relaxation and a desire to stay. Despite its size, the hotel doesn't cut corners. It boasts many subtle details that are often missing in international five-star hotels elsewhere, reminiscent of Swiss hotel management. You can truly feel the professionalism of a long-standing five-star establishment and its commitment to service quality. The hotel's location is excellent, and the views are also impressive. The room's amenities and furnishings are all very practical and well-designed, not just aesthetically pleasing. My trip was rushed this time, so I didn't get to experience the breakfast, pool, or fitness facilities. Currently, I have absolutely no complaints; it's an excellent five-star hotel with superb value for money. If I return to Guilin, I would definitely choose this Shangri-La again and recommend it to friends and family.

The hotel is located right on the Li River, with beautifully maintained gardens that offer fresh air and a peaceful escape from the city bustle. The room was clean and comfortable, with an amazing view – the scenery outside the window was like a painting. The service, as expected from Shangri-La, was consistently high-standard. Check-in at the front desk was very efficient, and all the staff greeted us with smiles, being both attentive and heartwarming. The breakfast selection was incredibly rich, and the local Guilin rice noodles were absolutely delicious! Both the facilities and the service made us feel incredibly comfortable. I will definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Guilin!

The room was decent, clean, and well-equipped, even though it had a slightly older style. They even provided a free extra bed. The environment was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning garden featuring peacocks and a small zoo. Unfortunately, it rained heavily during our visit, so we couldn't use the outdoor children's facilities. It was a shame that the indoor playground was also unavailable. The pool was fantastic – perfectly heated and very clean. My only minor complaint is that inner tubes had to be rented or purchased. But the absolute highlight was the breakfast! It was incredible, truly amazing, and the service was impeccable. A special shout-out to the tall, slender manager in the black uniform – I apologize for not catching your name. Breakfast definitely deserves a super-duper five stars! Room service was a bit on the pricey side. The location was quite good, with nice views of the mountains in the distance.

First off, the facilities are beautiful. Because the hotel was built early, it boasts a prime location with amazing views right outside the window – definitely great value for money. Next, the food. Shangri-La never disappoints. We had breakfast at the hotel every day. For lunch, we tried the 'Jiugongge' (a specialty hotpot), which was excellent. For dinner, we had one buffet and one meal with the beer duck at Shang Palace. The buffet was really good. Finally, the service. Since we visited during a period of high water levels, there weren't many tourists. The hotel upgraded our room, and Chen Xiaoyan at the front desk was consistently proactive and helpful. Big thumbs up!
