Location:The hotel is conveniently located just five minutes from the airport, making it easy for guests to settle in quickly. It's also situated near a lovely, clean beach with plenty of sunbeds and a picturesque setting, perfect for relaxation.
Guest Suggestion:Some customers suggest improvements in food quality and variety, as well as better customer service, particularly regarding room check-in processes and staff interactions.

Spectacular facilities. Very friendly staff. Comfortable rooms, although you can hear some noise from the hallways. The food is unbeatable.

Hotel is clean, staff friendly, any issues that arise are resolved quickly with little fuss. Food is varied and plentiful catering for many different palates. The only problem we had, which RIU need to address is the illegal sellers on the beach. We only saw the police once regarding this and it didn’t seem to be a priority as it is at other RIU resorts. They not only pester for sales but also food and beverages. Apart from that it’s a first class hotel that we’ve returned to many times over the years

Wow, what can I say? We had a fantastic holiday that far exceeded our expectations. Only five minutes from the airport – a perfect start. Check-in was quick and friendly, and our luggage was whisked straight to our room. We stayed in Block 4, which was ideal and wonderfully convenient, just a short stroll from everything. The weather was absolutely glorious – warm, bright and sun-drenched every single day. Despite my firm declaration that there was no way we’d be going in the swim-up pools, we somehow spent the entire week in them! The water was beautifully refreshing against the heat, and it quickly became our favourite place to relax. (And yes, I did make it very clear when I was heading to the lavatory!) The atmosphere throughout the resort was genuinely warm and welcoming. There was a lovely hum of holiday chatter everywhere, and we met lots of friendly, interesting people along the way. I’m not particularly arty, but I ended up joining a few of the art classes and surprised myself. Sitting in a cool room, I painted a hat and a fan, tried decoupage, and decorated a bag. It was incredibly relaxing and a lovely escape from the midday sun. The rooms were smaller than expected, but perfectly adequate as you really only sleep in them. They were kept spotlessly clean, and we especially loved the shower – powerful and refreshing after a hot day in the sun. Breakfast in the buffet restaurant offered everything you’d expect, with the added bonus of being able to take a jug of coffee back to the table – a small but very welcome touch that made mornings feel unhurried and easy. The à la carte restaurants were fine, though nothing particularly memorable. The Gourmet Restaurant was the only one with waiter service. It was very warm inside, but staff did promptly switch on the air conditioning when asked, which made a big difference. We also enjoyed a walk to the cocktail bar on the left-hand side of the beach. The sea breeze was lovely, but it was a shame the guards wouldn’t allow us to continue along the path, as walking through the soft sand was quite tiring unless you stayed close to the shoreline. It was my birthday during our stay. I had requested a complimentary swim-up room, which unfortunately wasn’t available, and the upgrade cost was too expensive. However, I was kindly left a small notebook and pen with a birthday message, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. We didn’t take any organised trips, but a real highlight of the holiday was watching the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. It was a truly magical, quiet moment – one of those experiences that stays with you long after you leave. We booked this through Boa Vista Magic Tours, whose huts are located about three along on the left-hand side of the beach. Would we return? Absolutely – without hesitation. In fact, I’m already hoping to return for Christmas and New Year. I can’t wait to go back.

It’s a typical all inclusive hotel, watered down drinks and poor cuisine. Some of the staff were nice and others just seemed not switched on. This was our second stay in 2 years and I really don’t know how it’s gone from 4* to 2* in my opinion in such a short period of time. There are multiple restaurants that you can book as well as the buffet and pool dining areas. You need the app to book and the best time is after midnight and you can only book once a week. The Italian restaurant well let’s just say you may as well go to the buffet instead as it’s never been Italian. The Asian was good and so was the gourmet but the buffet again some of the food left you thinking are there any chefs actually working here. They couldn’t even make mashed potato, it was that bad I took a photo of the slop! The room was nice and modern as well as being clean, the same with the pool areas and facilities. I probably will not be returning to a RIU hotel because at a £1000+ per week per person we may as well go room only somewhere that’s has restaurants nearby and pay as you go for good food. You have choices!

We are just on our return flight from Boa Vista and happy to report upon our amazing stay at the Riu Karamboa Hotel. After fifty years of international travel, we must say this is the best hotel we've ever stayed in on our usual holiday budget, we can't fault anything. The hotel is spotlessly clean and modern with all the possible facilities one requires for the holiday without being stung with 'extras' like some hotels. At least five bottles of water are provided in your room fridge daily, including a selection of soft drinks and spirits too. From the cleaners, gardeners, entertainment team, bar and reception staff are just such fun, attentive and friendly, everything just functions like clockwork. The food is amazing at every hour of the day, the variety is extensive and excellent quality, there are speciality restaurants, the best (in our subjective opinion) being the Kulinarum and the most disappointing, the 'Italian' restaurant. We experienced a few day trips arranged through our Tui rep and of them, although all excellent, the two hour quad bike experience was brilliant and highly recommended if you are reasonably fit and love being 'sandblasted'! We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

I was sceptical about visiting this hotel, but I have to say its fantastic! We are here now and everything is spot on. The staff can't do enough for you and there are load ofvthem attending every need. Food is plentiful good, we have eaten in the buffet and two of several restaurants, the Kulinarium food is first class restaurant food. There are plenty of sunbeds, and the newly refurbished rooms are excellent and well stocked with drinks. The place us spotlessly clean and well equipped. There is daily entertainment ground the site and the animation teams are a joy. The beach is beautiful and sea a great shade of turquoise ( a little rough though) The only surprise we had was the size of the hotel its vast! We will definitely be back in fact will book for later in the year.

The hotel is spotlessly clean. The staff work endlessly to make your stay amazing. There are always plenty of Sun loungers, whatever the time of the day, The gardens are immaculate, just as the rest of the hotel. The food is amazing with plenty of vegetarian options. Comfortable beds and big rooms. There really is nothing that’s not to love. Everybody is so friendly.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it! Rooms: Spotlessly clean and well maintained, with housekeeping doing a great job every day and towel art on the bed!. The minibar was restocked every two days, which was a nice added touch. Restaurants: The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. There was a fantastic variety of food available, and everything we tried was delicious. Waitress Jeveny always had a smile for us! Gardens - immaculate and the gardeners worked very hard to keep everything spotless Reception: The reception team were always helpful and welcoming, making everything easy from check-in, booking taxis to departure. Entertainment: The entertainment team really made our stay extra special. They were fun, engaging, and put on great shows and activities — we especially enjoyed the games and exercise classes. A special mention to Tiago Pedro, Mikey, Kevin, Samuel, Amilton, and Darlene, who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Overall, a wonderful holiday — we would definitely return!

Unfortunately, Riu Karamboa was a big disappointment for us. Upon arrival, we were given a noticeably smaller room than the others in that part of the building, which was clearly visible on the hotel floor plan. We could have accepted that, but the condition of the room was unacceptable – dirty and stained furniture, wet footprints all over the floor, unfinished painting work, and even paint stains on the bed. The minibar had not been restocked, there was no water, and most of the advertised room amenities were missing. We documented everything with photos. Even worse than the room itself was the attitude at reception. The receptionist we dealt with was extremely unhelpful and arrogant. At first, she insisted that there were no other rooms available and that we would have to spend one night in the dirty room and come back the next day. Only after a lengthy discussion and showing her our photos did another room suddenly become available. It was at the far end of the resort, but at least it was clean and in acceptable condition. Unfortunately, the lack of maintenance is noticeable throughout the resort. Towels in both the room and at the beach were often stained, and many sun loungers and chairs were cracked, damaged or broken. The beach itself, however, is beautiful, the water is amazing, and the natural shade provided by the palm trees is excellent. Considering the enormous size of the resort, we understand that catering for so many guests is challenging. However, a lot of the food was dried out or hard, flies were crawling around the food, and overall the quality and taste were disappointing. The attitude of some staff serving the food was also quite unpleasant. We had a similar experience at the water park, where the unnecessarily arrogant attitude of some lifeguards managed to turn something that should have been fun into an irritating experience. Although this is advertised as an adults-only resort, you can regularly see families with children on the beach, building sandcastles and swimming in the sea, so don't expect a completely adults-only environment there. Overall, the hotel feels heavily worn and, more importantly, poorly maintained. It has a beautiful beach and certainly has some positive aspects, but based on our experience, it is nowhere near a 5-star standard. We would realistically rate it as a 3-star hotel at best. Unfortunately, we would not return.
