Artha Dewata Homestay

This hotel is very affordable and definitely a family-run guesthouse. The owners live just a few buildings away, which is a unique setup. The floors are quite clean; I even followed the local custom of going barefoot inside. The doors and windows have an ancient feel, made of wood, which I think is a rather distinctive style of traditional Balinese housing. There's a small balcony; although the view is somewhat obstructed, it's still very comfortable to enjoy a cup of tea there. **Hygiene:** It's pretty good. Having air conditioning makes the stay quite comfortable, and the location is very convenient. It's perfectly fine for a simple one-night stay, giving a vibe reminiscent of China about fifteen years ago. The only drawback is that the power outlets are quite dangerous – they're very deep, and the adaptors don't work well, sparking when used.

Let's start with the downsides: no hairdryer and no slippers. The best part was definitely the location. It's right in the heart of Ubud, making it super convenient to get everywhere. If you buy too much, you can just pop back to the guesthouse to drop it off. I wasn't worried about the 12 PM check-out time either; I just packed my luggage and left it in the room, then opened it up when I needed something. Staying in the small alley felt very safe and cozy. Finding food was a breeze. If you're looking for souvenirs, I highly recommend the snack shop just a right turn from the entrance! It's so cheap! I absolutely loved it. The staff even recommended their favorite snacks to me, and they were delicious. You should also try their fried chicken rice for breakfast, it's only 13k, and with the coconut flakes dessert for 3k, it's super chill!

Very hospitable hostess, and the location is top-notch. However, there's a damp smell in the bathroom that could be improved.
