The Sandilands Ski Club offers the Learn to Ski Workshop, a comprehensive program designed to equip beginners of all ages with the foundational skills needed for an enjoyable cross-country skiing experience. Led by certified coaches from the Jackrabbits program, participants will engage in a group format that utilizes games and exercises to teach a progression of essential skills. This includes warm-ups, techniques for recovering from falls, gliding, mastering the classic kick technique, pole usage, and navigating hills. The workshop will take place at Quarry Oaks, where the learning area provides an ideal space for practicing techniques and playing games before venturing out onto the trails. Throughout the workshop, participants will receive individualized tips for improvement and have the opportunity to ask questions. The session will conclude with a snack break. The cost for individuals is $15 ($10 for club members) and $40 for families ($25 for club members). Please note that non-members' registration fees include trail access for the day. Participants are responsible for bringing their own skis. In the event of extreme cold or blizzard conditions, the workshop may be canceled for safety reasons.
