Flathead Rivers Alliance and Montana Kayak Academy are proud to co-host the 21st Annual Paddling Film Festival , an international adventure film tour showcasing the world’s best paddling films of the year . Join us Saturday, May 2, 2026 to get the float season kicked off right. From expert whitewater runs and epic sea kayaking journeys to powerful environmental stories, SUP expeditions, and grueling kayak fishing battles—this year’s lineup celebrates paddling culture and river stewardship from around the globe. Come join us to kick off the season! All proceeds will boost Flathead Rivers Alliance and Montana Kayak Academy ’s non-profit work. Get ready for a magical Christmas experience at the Whitefish Mountain Resort with Santa's Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade and Gift Giveaway. This beloved Montana Christmas tradition is perfect for the whole family and promises to create unforgettable memories. The festivities begin with the Torchlight Parade at 5:00pm, where you can gather at the bottom of Ed's Run to witness Santa and his team of Whitefish Elves descend from the top of Chair 2. Capture the magical moment with your camera as the parade makes its way down the slopes. After the parade, head over to Ed & Mully's for Santa's Gift Giveaway from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Santa himself will be there to personally hand out gifts to the children. To participate in the gift giveaway, make sure to register in advance and drop off your wrapped gift between 2:00pm and 5:00pm at Ed & Mully's. Please write the child's name, age, and hometown clearly on the package. Remember, only one gift per child is allowed, and if you have multiple children, please use the same wrapping paper for all the gifts. To join the Torchlight Parade, intermediate or expert skiers or snowboarders who are at least 8 years old can register online. Don't forget to arrive at the bottom of Chair 2 by 4:15pm and meet the Ski and Ride School staff who will provide torches for the parade. Safety gear like helmets and low-visibility goggles are highly recommended. Transportation to the event is a breeze with the SNOW Bus operating between Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort. Shuttles will also be available in the upper village areas, and all parking lots will be open. Please remember to obey all parking signage. Join in on the excitement of the Cruise the Blues event in Whitefish on Friday, December 29. This free and family-friendly mountain-wide scavenger hunt is a must-do activity. Participants can check in at Cruise HQ anytime between 9:00am and 3:00pm for a chance to win fantastic prizes suitable for both kids and adults. It's not a race, but it's guaranteed to be loads of fun! During the scavenger hunt, keep an eye out for the elusive 'golden ticket' hidden on the numerous Blue and Green ski runs across the mountain. Once you find a ticket, simply bring it to Cruise HQ to redeem your prize. Remember, only one prize per person, per run. Don't worry about losing track of which runs have already been discovered - you can easily keep track using the QR code available at Cruise HQ or the Main Lift Plaza. The event kicks off at 9:00am and continues until 3:30pm, giving you plenty of time to hit the slopes. Check in at the Lift Plaza by Chair 1, and make sure to visit Cruise HQ located in the Main Lift Plaza, between Chairs 1, 2, and 6. The event concludes when the last ticket is turned in, usually around 3:00pm. To increase your chances of winning, go out and find as many Golden Tickets as you can! Once you've turned in a ticket at Cruise HQ, head back out and search for another one. It's a thrilling adventure that you won't want to miss! The Wednesday Night Skimo League is a ski mountaineering race series that provides a low-key and enjoyable racing environment for the community. Participants can expect a fun-filled evening of racing on Wednesday nights in January. Each race consists of skinning up a marked course and skiing back down. The league serves as a warm-up for the Whitefish Whiteout event in February. To participate in the league, online pre-registration is mandatory. The registration fee for each race is $25. Racers must check in between 5:00pm and 5:45pm to receive their bib. It is important to be on time or to arrange for someone else to collect your bib. Participants under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver of liability. The races take place at the Events Office, located at 3915 Big Mountain Road in Whitefish. The course starts and finishes at this location as well. LED lights and race gates mark the uphill and downhill sections of the course. Transition areas are designated with yellow flags and must be used. The courses are approximately 1-1.5 miles long with a vertical gain of 600-800 feet. There are six categories for racers: 1 Lap Female, 2 Lap Female, 3 Lap Female, 1 Lap Male, 2 Lap Male, and 3 Lap Male. The cutoff time for the last lap is 7:15pm. Awards will be presented at The Bierstube at 8:00pm. Transportation options include the SNOW Bus and shuttles within the village. Helmets are required for all participants. Whitefish Mountain Resort presents the Whitefish January Jam - Terrain Park Rail Jam, an exciting event for all abilities. This year, the event has been updated to a rail jam competition, where riders will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on a set of features in the terrain park. Participants will be given a set amount of time to hit the features as many times as possible, and their runs will be judged based on the variety, difficulty, and style of their tricks. The event will take place at Chair 3 / Whitefish Terrain Parks, with check-in located at the Events Office on Big Mountain Road. Online pre-registration is required, and the registration fee is $30 per participant. All participants must check-in to receive a bib and flagging tape. There are multiple categories available for both skiers and snowboarders, including top class and amateur class divisions for males and females. The Grom Class is available for ages 8-12 only and will be held at Depot Park. The schedule for the event is as follows: check-in closes at 7:00am, inspection for all competitors from 9:30am to 10:30am, competitor meeting at 11:15am, and the competition will take place from 11:30am to 3:00pm. Awards will be held at the Events Office at 3:30pm. Judging criteria for the competition include degree of difficulty, amplitude, execution, variety, and style. Each division will be judged on a point scale, with scores from multiple judges being combined for the final results. Helmets are required for all participants.
