AboutIn 1680, the Pueblo Revolt began. Decades before, Spanish colonizers had ravaged the landscape and decimated the Indigenous Pueblo population. Led by Po’pay, the members of this historic uprising were successful in expelling the colonizers from their homelands, and for twelve years after freeing themselves, the Pueblos of New Mexico lived free from Castilian rule and influence. In 1692, the Spanish returned with a vengeance and stole the lands again. In ReVOlt 1680/2180, a contemporary retelling of this history by visionary Cochiti Pueblo artist Virgil Ortiz, the 1680 rebels will have more resources and aid, and their territories will be secure once and for all.

Experience Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) like never before. Jaws: The Exhibition is the first-ever exhibition of this scale at the Academy Museum, focused exclusively on a single film, and the largest mounted exhibition ever for Jaws, the Oscar®-winning film from Universal Pictures. It celebrates the film’s 50th anniversary and revisits Jaws scene by scene, through original objects, behind-the-scenes revelations, and interactive moments. Curated with direct access to the collections from Steven Spielberg and The Amblin Hearth Archive, NBCUniversal Archives & Collections, and more, the exhibition dives deep into the film’s production history and explores its enduring impact. Directed by Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg, Jaws became the first summer blockbuster that forever changed the movie industry. The suspenseful adventure film, adapted from the novel by Peter Benchley, is centered on three main characters—Brody, Hooper, and Quint—who hunt a great white shark menacing the seaside town of Amity Island. The monumental success of Jaws belies uncertain beginnings, where production challenges arising from an unprecedented mechanical shark spurred creative problem-solving. Over five decades later, it remains clear that the tenacity of its cast and crew led to the realization of this beloved classic, one of the most influential films in motion picture history.

Arp—Klee: With Selections from the Janice and Henri Lazarof Collection | Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Los Angeles
Exhibitions
This exhibition of works on paper primarily showcases paintings and sculptures, drawn from two major modern art collections: one donated 20 years ago to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) by Janis and Henry Lazaroff of Los Angeles; and the other from the collection of Maria and Conrad Janis, recently bequeathed to LACMA by the son of renowned New York gallery owner Sidney Janis. Through these two collections, the exhibition explores the commonalities between two important modern artists—Jean Arp and Paul Klee. Both artists abandoned academic traditions, drawing inspiration from folk traditions, children's drawings, and non-European art. Despite their differing styles, Arp and Klee share a deep interest in the regenerative processes of nature—a resonance that has shaped their respective explorations of abstraction, biological forms, and expressive, almost fantastical use of line.

Exhibitions
The “Country Square” exhibition brings together nearly 50 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from the Henri and Ross Perlman collection to celebrate art and community. The exhibition features vibrant landscapes and striking portraits by artists such as Cézanne, Degas, Manet, Modigliani, Sisley, Soutine, and Toulouse-Lautrec. These bold and dynamic works often stem from deep friendships between artists, and sometimes even from close ties with Henri Perlman himself. “Country Square” upholds the Perlmans’ belief that art has the power to create shared experiences and foster connections between people. This exhibition is the last chance for this collection before it is donated to museums across the country; six important works will remain at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), further enriching its collection of modern art and impressionism.
